Sunday 12 March 2023

Hello everyone.....

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely weekend and it was lovely to see some of you at our Stay and Play on Saturday.

Throughout the week at group time we have been sharing lots of stories and information books about Frogs and the life cycle of a frog. We have talked about fiction books and nonfiction books (Information) and the difference between the two. We are still on the lookout for any frogspawn or tadpoles for our classroom.  Throughout the week we have been making a surprise to bring home next Sunday to someone special. The children have been working with clay to create these. On Monday we did some bubble wrap printing to represent frog spawn. The children painted the bubble wrap black and then printed it onto paper. On Tuesday we did some bouncy tights painting with black paint. The children really enjoyed this. Please see pictures below. On Wednesday we used the dry bouncy tights paintings to create our own interpretation of tadpoles. Also we had PE with Mr Treble and we used the climbing apparatus. Our confidence is growing with climbing. We were unable to visit the care home this week due to them having Covid. In the afternoon we did a science experiment using static electricity. We rubbed a ballon on our hair which charged the balloon and then a tissue paper frog stuck to the ballon. When it lost it's charge it fell of the ballon into a pretend pond.  We also went to soft play in the afternoon in small groups as it was raining. On Thursday we made spring biscuits in preparation for next week's trip to the care home.  The children were great at mixing, rolling out the dough and using the flower cutters. In the afternoon we loved playing a game of the floor is lava. On Friday we enjoyed playing our first game of number Bingo. The children are becoming great at recognising some numerals. We also loved playing a game of Duck Duck Goose. We have enjoyed constructing with the octagons, nuts and bolts and the wooden transparent shapes, rainbow arch and pebbles. In the number area we have been putting the correct number of petals on the correct numeral flower. We have been mark making using carrots and orange paint. We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools and flower cutters to make our own flowers.  We have decorated them with buttons and gems. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been playing frog tiddly winks. On the small world table we had the song props of 5 green and speckled frogs. The children were great at singing this songs using the props.
