Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely weekend.
On Monday we had great fun settling back into pre-school routines and hearing all about our half term adventures. We also did some cooking and made some cheese scones to take to the care home on Wednesday, On Tuesday it was Pancake Day and at group time we made pancakes. We talked about the ingredients and the instructions of how to make pancakes. For snack we had pancakes with a variety of yummy toppings. We also practiced our scissors skills in creating a pancake with our favourite toppings. After lunch we had some pancake races outside using a start and finish line. It was great fun. This week we have listened to the story of Mr Wolf's Pancakes at storytime. On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the care home to sing and eat delicious cheese scones. The children cooked the cheese scones to share with with the residents. The other group of children had PE with Mr Treble and used the climbing apparatus. In The afternoon we talked about road safety and about being on our bikes by the road. We did some role play with bikes and how to cross safely the road on a bike.
On Thursday we created our own pancakes using a variety of media including tissue paper, sprinkles, cellophane, pencils and pens. On Friday we had our trip to Tesco and before going to Tesco's we created our own shopping list. We did some great walking to and from Tesco and observing all the things we saw. When we got to Tesco we looked at all the different products and collected the items on our shopping list. We then went to the tills and paid for our shopping. In the afternoon we cut up all our fruit to make a fruit salad. We were amazing at trying new and different fruits.
We have enjoyed constructing with the clogs and magnetic construction (geomage and magnetic shapes). In the number area we have been playing with the numbered pancakes and catching them in order in the frying pan. We have enjoyed using the magnetic letters to make our names. We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools and materials to make pancakes.  On our finger frenzy table this week we have been spaghetti sticks and hoops. We have been threading the hoops onto the spaghetti. Throughout the week we have begun to learn the Read Write inc picture names in group time. We have learned Maisie next to the mountain, apple, snake, dinosaur, insect, net, pirate, orange, girl and caterpillar, Kangaroo and Umbrella. We have also met Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have played the lots of Fred frog games. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories.
