Hello everyone.....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend with your family and friends. The preschool staff had a fabulous day on Saturday preparing a surprise for the children when they come to school on monday.  Photos of the surprise will follow on  our facebook page.

Last week we enjoyed sharing the story of Spinderella by Julia Donaldson at group time which was all about spiders, football and numbers.

On Monday we made our own spider biscuits and when making them we had to use the scissors to cut the fruit strings into 8 legs. We were great at counting 4 legs on each side and 8 altogether. They looked very yummy. In the afternoon we made Christmas cakes ready to decorate in the next couple of weeks. We also made spiders webs outside to climb through. On Wednesday morning a group of children had PE with Colleen and Lauren. We used the large apparatus to climb on. Another group went to the care home for a sing song and ate some yummy cake. In the afternoon we did a science experiment using whiteboard pens, foil and water. We drew spiders on foil and then put water on top of the foil and the spiders we had drawn lifted away from the foil. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning we made spiders webs by threading wool through holes in a plate and making a spider. On Tuesday and Thursday morning some groups of children made Christmas cakes ready to decorate in the next couple of weeks. On Thursday afternoon we went and played on the trim trail. We are becoming really confident at climbing, swinging and balancing independently. On Friday afternoon we had basketball with Coach Luca. On Friday we all decorated Caroline's office with Elves as a surprise for her on Monday. Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with Knex , magnetic shapes and Geomag. Our finger frenzy this week has been using the tweezers to rescue the spiders from the spiders web. We have been mark making emotions on the large paper with pre drawn circles. We have looked at the emotions stones and the different emotions we have. On the number table this week we have had unifix cubes and number block cards. We have been making the different number blocks and repeating patterns. On the small world table we had a football pitch with spiders and a football to retell the story of Spinderella. On the playdough table we have been making hedgehogs and spiders using a variety of media, tools and techniques. We also had a tray of sand with hidden metal objects to discover using the metal detectors.   In our role play are we have been playing with the firestation and dolls house. We have been exploring rhyming throughout the week at group time with a variety of fun games and stories. Also we continue to talk about Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. Every day this week we have been doing Healthy Movers which is a great programme to develop children's physical skills. Please see below for some home learning to support this.
