Christmas Carol Rehearsal

Hello everyone,

We will not be going to the church for the Rehearsal due to the poor weather condition for tomorrow. Tuesday afternoon session children to be picked up from pre-school at the usual time of 3.30.

Please can the children arrive at the carol service at 4.45pm in their costumes.

Christmas excitement

Hello everyone,

Last week we have have been busy making some surprises to bring home at the end of this week. The children have really enjoyed making them.  Throughout the week we have enjoyed reading lot's of different Christmas Stories. It's been lovely to see children bring Christmas stories in from home to share with us. We have also been very busy learning our Christmas carol service and we are all amazing at singing them. Along with our Christmas carols we have enjoyed singing some other Christmas songs. On Thursday afternoon we had our visitors with the Puppet Nativity show which we all really enjoyed watching and joining in with. On Thursday morning we joined up with the Dorchester Opportunity group for a Christmas sing song. 
It was lovely to so many of our families at the Christmas breakfast on Thursday. We have all enjoyed playing in the Nativity role play area acting out the Christmas story. We have been created with the shaving foam Christmas tree and decorating it beautifully. 

This week we will continue with our Christmas surprises to bring home to our families. On Tuesday morning we will be going to watch the dress rehearsals at school of the Christmas plays. On Tuesday afternoon we will be walking to the church for our Christmas carol service practice. All children who attend on a Tuesday afternoon at pre-school will be going to the church. On Friday we have got our Christmas party in the morning. It will be a fun and exciting morning of party games, food and lot's more. On Wednesday lunchtime we have got our Christmas dinner.

Letters and sounds:- 

We have made our rhyming door. We will be thinking of all the words we know that rhyme to add the door. We have also begun to learn the Read Write inc pictures of apple, Maisie next to the mountain, orange, snake, net, dinosaur, tower, horse, pirate, girl, boot and worm.

Don't forget to bring in your child's WOW moments. We love to share and celebrate these with everyone. There are spare WOW's by the WOW board in the corridor. 

On Thursday at 3.10pm we have got our story session. Please come and join us. 

It was lovely to see some of you at Stay and Play on Wednesday. This week Stay and Play will be on Thursday 20th December  from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there. 

Please remember to check your Child’s post pocket when you hang up coats in the mornings, all important post will be there. 

Thank you for all the donations for the Christmas Fair on Friday. Lots of fun was had by all. 

On Tuesday 18th December 5-6pm at St Mary's Church there will be a school carol service. Reception and Pre-school Year 2 will be doing a nativity. Please see letter for your child's animal. Children need to come in their costumes for the carol service and arrive at the church for 4.45pm. If your child attends on a Tuesday afternoon please return permission slip to walk to church on the afternoon of 18th December 2018 for a practice rehearsal. All Year 2 Pre-school children who attend a Tuesday afternoon session will be going to the church and need to be collected from the church between 3.00-3.15pm. If your child does not usually come on Tuesday afternoon please drop your child off at the church for 1.30pm. All children to be collected from the church between 3.00-3.15pm. If you have any questions please do come and see me. 

On Friday 21st December we have got our Christmas party in the morning from 9-1pm. Children can come in party clothes or dressing up (No Superhero costumes). Please see letter for all details. No Children will need to bring a lunchbox on Friday as it is party food. Please sign up on the food list which is in the corridor. We will be eating our party lunch at 12.00pm. If your child doesn't normally attend a Friday morning they are very welcome to. If this is the case please collect your child at 1.00pm. 

We would all like to Wish you a very very Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been a fantastic term and we all look forward to the many adventures in learning next term.

Christmas Treats

Hello everyone,

Last week we had great fun going out on the mini-bus to the garden centre. We enjoyed riding on the bus and looking at all the different things in our local community. When we got to the garden centre we enjoyed looking at all the Christmas decorations. We talked about the colours, shapes and textures. We all enjoyed climbing the stairs to watch the trains go round and trying on different hats. We went to the cafe and had a drink and biscuit. We were all amazing during our trip out. The children have recalled their trip to garden centre on cut out baubles which are on display in the classroom. Photos from our trip will be up this week. 
On Tuesday morning we joined Mr Treble for PE and did some dancing. On Thursday afternoon we joined Reception for a carol sing song and a joined up afternoon. We loved exploring their new outside area. We have also been looking through our learning journeys with our key workers and talking about what we have enjoyed this half term, what we have learned to do and what we would like to do next. These are up on display in the classroom. 
We have enjoyed sharing lots of Christmas stories and Christmas songs this week during group time. We have been playing in Santa's grotto and wrapping up presents of different sizes. We have also added gift tags to the presents. 

For the next two weeks we will be making some Christmas surprises  to bring home at the end of the term. We will be sharing lot's more Christmas stories and songs this week. On Thursday afternoon we have got Dorchester Community Church coming to do a Nativity Puppet show. On Tuesday morning we have got our PE session with Mr Treble. On Thursday morning a group will be swimming. We will be joining up for a Christmas carol sing song with Reception and lots more. We have got a surprise for the children in morning with a new role play area.

If your child would like a Christmas dinner please come and see Caroline on Monday for a order code. The closing date for this is Tuesday 11th December.

Christmas Fair donations: Please bring a jam jar full of children's objects e.g sweets, craft materials, bouncy balls etc by Friday 14th December. These will be used for a Children raffle game. 

The POWSA Christmas Fair will be on Friday 14th December from 3.30pm-5.00pm. Please see poster for more details. If you are able to help with preparation, during the school fair or clearing up please let Julia know.

Christmas

Hello everyone,

We listened to the Nativity story and talked about who was in the story. We made Christmas decorations to represent the Nativity story for the Christmas Tree festival at St George's Church. 
On Tuesday we had Mr Treble and did lots of dancing which is all very much enjoyed. On Wednesday afternoon Year 3 came and joined us and we made willow lanterns for the parade on Friday. We worked fantastically as a team and created some great lanterns. Throughout the week in the afternoon we have been busy making jam jar lanterns. We have really enjoyed writing our breakfast invitations and going to visit the post box. We found some great shapes and numbers in our local environment. We talked about where we live and our local community. We hope you liked your invitations. The children enjoyed this so much we have been making up invitations on the drawing table and pretending to post them in our post box. Some fantastic mark making happened. 
On Thursday afternoon we joined Reception for a Christmas carol sing song which we all enjoyed. 

This week we are going on the bus to the Garden centre. This is going to be a great trip. We are all very excited. We will also be starting to make some Christmas surprises to bring home at the end of term. In the role play corner we have got Santa's Grotto for the children to explore and role play in. We will be busy learning the Christmas carols for our carol service. We will also be talking to our key workers about what we have enjoyed this term, What we have learned and what we would like to do next. We will also be learning some Christmas songs and sharing different Christmas stories.

On Tuesday 4th December we have got our POWSA meeting in the main school staff room at 7.30pm.

On Friday 7th December at 5.00pm.  If you would like to join us please come to pre-school pickup door an adult will direct you to our story session. Children can come in PJ's and bring their teddy. We will be having hot chocolate and biscuits. Look forward to seeing you there.
