Ice cream

Hello everyone,

Hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

Last week we have enjoyed sharing stories about saline under the sea. We have been busy creating our own salt dough sealife animals. We have enjoyed making our own postcards and having a go at writing a message on the back. On Wednesday afternoon we enjoyed painting a pattern on a pasta shell to support the story of Sharing a shell. We did some great patterns and very carefully painting.
We have really enjoyed playing outside with all our new resources. A big thank you for all your fundraising with the bike and scooter race. We went to the teepee and had an afternoon of playing a variety of musical instruments.
We have also been busy picking peas from the garden to eat, which will have all enjoyed eating.

This week we are going to be painting our salt dough creatures and bringing them home. On Monday morning we are going to watch the extreme bike show. Looks great!! This week we are going to be talking about our favourite ice cream and how ice cream is made. We are going to be making our own ice cream to try. We will also be having an ice cream role play shop in the maths corner.
We will continue to pick produce from the garden. We will doing lots of fun ice cream crafts and activities as well.

As the weather is starting to get warm, please could all children bring sun hats to school. We do have a box of spares if needed. If you have applied suncream to your child before school please could you let a member of staff know. If you have ticked to supply your own suncream, please could you make sure children have this when they come to Pre-school ready for us to apply 

It was lovely to see some of you at Stay and Play on Thursday.  This week Stay and Play will be on Friday 5th July from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there.

The children who are attending the Prince of Wales School in September will have their final transition afternoon on Tuesday 2nd July. If you have any questions about these afternoons please come and see Julia. 

On Tuesday 2nd July we are having our joint Year 2 pre-school and reception class BBQ. This will start straight after school in Reception playground. Please see previous letter for details. If you have not already returned your slip and £1.50 per child donation please could this be returned on Monday to enable us to cater for the BBQ.

On Friday 5th July is Dance Day. Each class will doing a dance on the school field. This event starts at 2.30pm. If you are not in on a Friday afternoon you are very welcome to join us. 

On Saturday 6th July is the school summer fair. It will be a great family fun day out. Summer fair starts at 11.00am.

On Tuesday 9th July we have got our Year 2 preschool sports day from 9.15-9.45. If you are not in on a Tuesday, children are very welcome to come along with an adult and join in. Parents are very welcome to come and watch. 

Our swimming day this term will be Friday.  Each child who attends on a Friday morning session will get to swim every other week. Please check letter for your child's date for swimming.

Last week we had a great week listening to lots of seaside stories which the children have bought in. On Tuesday morning we had the beach lifeguards come and visit us and talked about beach safety. The children learnt about the different flags, what to do if you get lost on the beach and what the lifeguards do. We have also made salt dough this week and have been creating mermaids using gems and beads. We have also been painting seaside pictures. We have also been creating our own seaside collage with a variety of resources.  On Wednesday afternoon we went over to the teepee and listened to a variety of seaside music and drawing pictures to the music.  On Thursday afternoon we went out on the balance bikes and also did some weeding in the garden. We picked some peas and had them for snack. On Friday we talked we read the story of Peppa's holiday and then talked about postcards. We then had a go at writing our own postcard and drawing a picture. During the week we have enjoyed playing ring games and party games like musical statues. 

This week we are going to be continuing our theme of the seaside and in particular looking at what lives under the sea. If you have any stories please do bring them in. We are going to continue making our own postcards and listening to the story of Joe's holiday. We are also going to be reading the story of Sharing a shell and following this painting our own shells. We are going to be creating our own salt dough creatures to then paint and bring home. We will continue with our gardening and looking after pre-school pets.

The seaside

















Hello everyone,

Last week we had great fun making flapjacks as a yummy treats for our Dad's and making cards by choosing their favourite picture and water colouring. We were all amazing at painting with such great care and control. We hope all our Dad's had a wonderful Father's Day. We also shared lots of stories about Dad's and talked about what was special about our dads. On Thursday morning we went to the beach and had a great time exploring the beach by collecting objects, playing in the water and making sandcastles. There are some great pictures the children have drawn from our beach trip. There will also be some photos up this week from the trip. 

This week we are going to be continuing our theme of the seaside with lots of activities including sandcastle making, salt dough underwater creatures, seaside stories and poems and also a visit from the beach lifeguards to talk about sea safety.

Father's Day and the seaside















Hello everyone,

Last week we had great fun learning about pirates. On Monday we talked in small groups about what we knew about pirates, what we would like to find out and what activities we wanted to do. Over the week we have enjoyed sharing some pirate stories which the children have bought in from home.
We have made treasure maps using tea to change the colour of the paper. We then let them dry and then looked at treasure maps in pirate stories and on the computer. We then drew our maps. These are up on the wall.
On Tuesday we had PE with Mr Treble and we did some of our favourite games and played some team games. Our PE skills are fantastic. 
On Friday we made our own telescopes with different coloured transparent cellophane. We enjoyed seeing what colour things were and what happen when you mixed two or more different coloured cellophane. On Wednesday morning we went up to feed the chickens and guinea pigs. We also picked our first crop of lettuces.  On Wednesday afternoon we played the game of walk the plank. We had great balancing skills. 
On Thursday afternoon the children went on a pirate adventure around the school grounds. The children really enjoyed acting out the story. Some children choose to do some gardening, We planted some more lettuce and did some watering and weeding. 

This week we are going to start our week with sharing stories about Dads and talking about what special about our Dad's We will be making a few surprises to bring home at the end of the week. On Thursday we have got our beat trip with Reception in the morning and we then be continuing the theme of the seaside with lots of fun activities.

On Thursday 13th June 2019 we have got the Happy Circus coming to school for an evening circus performance. Tickets can be purchased now  at a great price of £10.50 each. Tickets can be purchased from the Main school office. 

On Thursday we have got our trip to beach with Reception. Please keep a look out for blogs about the trip. The children will need to come to pre-school with suncream on and dress appropriately for the weather. Children to wear wellies to pre-school.  Any questions please come and see Julia.

Pirates

























Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful half term, looking forward to hearing all about the children's adventures and news this week. 

This half term we will be exploring and learning about the seaside. This week we are going to be doing pirates as its of children have been showing an interest in treasure maps and Bertie bought in a pirate story. We are going to be sharing lots of pirate stories and songs throughout the week. We will be looking at maps and the information they give us. Following on from this we will be making our own treasure maps using tea.We will also be making some telescopes and using different transparent colours to see what happens. Outside we will be using planks of wood to balance along and making boats using crates. Throughout the week we will be going on some pirate adventures by making up our own pirate stories. 

Home learning

Can you bring in a map of somewhere you went in the holidays? It could be a map of an attraction you visited e.g. Farmer Palmers.

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June 9-5pm we are having a pre-school community make over weekend. We are going to be moving the sheds and painting and treating the sheds, tree house etc. We are also going to be having a good tidy of the whole pre-school outside space. From the sponsored bike and scooter ride we are purchasing some fantastic resources to enhance our children's learning. we would welcome any support, however big or small on these days- even if only for one hour!
