Hello everyone....

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a great weekend despite all the rain we have had. Let's hope we get some beautiful sunny weather soon.

Last week on Monday we painted our favourite foods on paper plates and talked about the different foods we liked. In the afternoon we did some cosmic kids yoga which we enjoyed.
On Tuesday we had PE with Mr Treble and played lots of games involving negotiating spaces avoiding obstacles. In the afternoon we made our own fruit smoothies for snack. We chose which fruit we liked and cut it up. We then used the hand blender to blend it together with the milk to make a smoothie.
On Wednesday morning we used a variety of vegetables to print with and we created these into pictures. In the afternoon we did the hand washing experiment where we put glitter on our hands and then used soap to washout hands. When we rinsed our hands in the water we could see the places on hands we hadn't washed. Julia showed us how to wash our hands.
On Thursday we used flour to make handprints on black paper. On Thursday a group of children prepared melon and hot chocolate for snack. We all enjoyed our hot chocolate on a rainy and cold day. On Friday we made pizza's to bring home. They looked very yummy. We rolled the dough out, put the tomato sauce on the base, grated the cheese and added a variety of our favourite toppings. We also used the hall to make an obstacle course which we all enjoyed doing. On Wednesday during group time we talked about healthy and unhealthy foods and talked about Jennie jigsaws packed lunches. We have also been talking about the names of different parts of the body and pointing to them.
Throughout the week we have had great fun creating lots of obstacles course outside using planks, crates and tyres and have been doing lots of balancing.

This week we will continue to explore how to keep ourselves safe and healthy. We will be doing a variety of activities this week including looking after our teeth, making a pasta salad, sun safety. On Thursday afternoon we are going to meet Harold the giraffe from the Life Ed Van.

Hello everyone.....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a great weekend despite the heavy down pours of  rain.

Last week we enjoyed talking about and learning about our families. We shared the photos of our families at group time and talked about who is in our family. The children really enjoyed this and if they haven't bought a photo in yet, they are very welcome to this week as well.
We have been busy drawing and painting pictures of our families. We have shared a couple of stories about families.
On Monday in the afternoon we made our own static electric butterflies using ballons. By rubbing the balloons on our jumpers or hair made the tissue paper wings on the butterfly move up and down.
For PE with Mr Treble we have now split into two groups and group 1 went this week. We played Pac man using the lines on the playground. We also played jumping onto the different coloured lillypads. We went on the field and played find the cone which was great fun.  This week it will be group 2 for PE. In the afternoon on Tuesday we used clay to make our own face on the trees using natural objects like stones, grasss and sticks for eyes, hair etc. We created pre-school family trees. In the afternoon we had great fun looking for bugs and using the magnifying glasses to look at them. We ticked off bugs we found and drew them as well.
On Wednesday we had great fun risk taking and jumping off different heights of crates and landing on two feet. We were amazing at this and loved doing it.
On Thursday we celebrated Eid with Yasmine, Raneen and Hussain's family. Yasmine's mum and brother came into pre-school for the morning and we celebrated Eid by making Eid cookies, Eid cards and watching a Disney Junior short film/song about Eid. It was great fun making the cookies using the special tool to make the pattern on the cookie. In the afternoon we used black eyeliner to make Eid patterns on our hands.  We used chalk to draw mosque outside.
On Friday afternoon we had a great time playing on the play trail and the yellow slide. We were amazing and confident at climbing up the ladder to the slide all by ourselves.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed bathing the dolls and taking care of them by washing, dressing them and brushing their teeth. We have also been creating car and balls runs using draining pipes and guttering. We came up with great ideas of how to adapt them and add to the initial idea. We had been creating people and monsters using the popiods.

For the next 2 weeks we are going to be exploring how to keep ourselves safe and healthy. We will be doing a variety of activities this week about healthy food, exercising and the effects of exercising and learning the names of part of bodies.

Sunday 9 May 2021

Hello everyone.....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend despite the rainy weather. A great weekend for puddle jumping.

Last week we continue with the story of Jack and the beanstalk and on Friday we shared the story of Jasper's beanstalk.

On Tuesday we used our welly boot printed beanstalk to add some natural objects like leaves, sticks etc. We went on a hunt around the school grounds to pick up a variety of objects. We explored the different textures. In the afternoon we made some chalk paint by crunching chalk with a stone and adding water to it. We then painted our own pictures with the chalk paint onto black paper. We had Mr Treble for PE and we were on the school field. We did some great climbing and balancing on the trim trail. We also used bean bags to see how far we could throw them and aiming them into a goal. We finished off with a game of toilet tag which we all loved. On Wednesday we put some bean seeds into plastic bags and watered them. We are looking forward to watching them grow and to see the roots and the changes the beans make. In afternoon we played the bean game which involved naming different beans and moving in that way e.g. runner bean=running, string bean-standing on tiptoes, jelly bean-Wobbly moving. On Thursday we acted out the story of Jack and the beanstalk using the tree house. It was so much fun that we acting out the story a few times and then the children acted out their own version. On Friday we did some magic with the sun, water, leaves and special sunlight paper. We arranged our leaves on to the special paper and then let the sun shine down onto the paper. We then put our paper in water and it left the pattern of the leaves. We made some mud kitchen giant soup using natural ingredients from the garden. Throughout the week we have used the puppet theatre to retell the story of Jack and the beanstalk with the puppets. We have been busy creating models with the magnetic shapes including some houses for the teddies to live in. We used rulers and different objects to measure the beanstalks in the number area. We made habitats for the underwater sea animals in the wood block area and water play. We played a game with the beanbags and had a go at throwing them in the giants mouth. We pretended a crate was his mouth and that the beanbags were sausages.

This week we are going to be exploring families and on Thursday we are going to be celebrating the festival of Eid with Yasmine. Yasmine's mum is going to be joining us for the day and we will be celebrating Eid with a variety of activities. If there are any traditions, celebrations or festivals that your family do and you would like to share at pre-school, please come and let us know.

Sunday 2 May 2021

Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you are all having a wonderful bank holiday weekend.

Last week we enjoyed sharing the story of Jack and the beanstalk. At snack time we tried green beans and had baked beans on toast. On Monday afternoon we went on a golden egg hunt in the forest school area. On Tuesday afternoon we painted with plants and fruits like raspberries. We had great fun bashing them and exploring colour.  On Thursday and Friday afternoon we planted our own magic beans and drew a castle for the bean to grew up too. If you haven't done ones of these yet you will next week. On Friday morning we created our own beanstalk with welly and foot printing. It was great fun.  On Friday morning we also created a great game of seeing how far we could jump and pretending the ruler was the beanstalk and then we adapted our game to seeing if we could jump over the castle.
On Tuesday morning we had PE with Mr Treble and we played some games including sleepy pirate, follow my leader, moving in different ways like an animal.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed making castles in the shaving foam, having a game of throwing the beanbags into the hoops. Each hoop had different points. We were amazing at throwing under and over arm and scoring some great points. We used the planks as surfboards and went surfing down the hill and Julia called out big wave, little wave. We threaded beads onto the pipe cleaners and we counted out the magic beans to match the numeral on the beanstalk leaf. We used the small  props to recall the story of Jack and the beanstalk.
On Wednesday we extended our play from the week before of car servicing to car washing. We got the buckets, cloths and bubbles out and washed the pre-school bikes. It was great fun. We watched the story of Jack and the beanstalk on the television.

This week we are continuing with the story of Jack and the beanstalk along with the story of Jasper's beanstalk. We will be continuing with planting our beans to bring home, harp threading, bean experiment, leaf art in the sunshine science experiment, collage our enormous welly and foot print beanstalk and more.
