Hello everyone.....


 Hello everyone....


We hope you have all had a wonderful weekend with family and friends. 
Last week we have enjoyed sharing lots of Christmas stories and singing Christmas songs at group time.
Throughout the week we have been very busy preparing some lovely Christmas surprises to bring home at the end of this week. On Monday and Wednesday and Thursday we visited Poundbury garden centre to look at all the Christmas decorations and we visited the cafe for a drink. We talked about all the different Christmas objects we saw and about all the different colours and shapes. On Wednesday and Thursday we loved playing on the ride on train in the preschool hall. On Thursday afternoon we enjoyed making mince pies and eating them for snack.We continue to love playing in the Christmas role play room. Also we have been busy constructing with the magnetic shapes and battery operated tealights along with constructing marble runs. We have also been using the christmas cutters in the playdough and decorating our playdough Chrsitmas trees with beads, gems and buttons. We have enjoyed playing with the Christmas fuzzy felt and jigsaws. We have been playing with the sequin tiles. It was lovely to see so many of our families at our Christmas Breakfast on Tuesday.

 This week we have got a very busy and exciting week ahead....

On Monday we are going to be watching the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Dress rehearsals which the children we really enjoy watching.  In the afternoon we will be walking to the care home with the rest of school to sing carols in the garden. 

On Tuesday morning we have a puppet show of the nativity story by Dorchester Community Church. Also we have our Christmas dinner. 

On Wednesday morning we are going to be watching a Christmas Pantomime in the main school hall.  In the evening we have our School Christmas Carol service at St Mary's Church. If your child is taking part please come dressed in your nativity animal costume and arrive at 4.45 to be met by the pre-school team. 

On Friday we have our Christmas party in the morning. All year 2 children invited. Please drop off at 9.00am and pick up at 12.30 if you don't normally attend on a Friday. Children need to bring in a Christmas themed packed lunch wrapped up as a present. Children welcome to come dressed in party wear. (No superhero costumes)

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we having our swimming groups. Please bring swimming kit on your groups day. If you have any questions please come and ask.

Applying for Reception Place to start in September 2024

You can apply for a reception place from 1 September 2024.

The closing date for applications is 15 January 2024.


We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL, so please can we remind our families that the children have no products containing nuts in their lunchbox.

We break up for Christmas Holidays on Friday 15th December and return back on Tuesdat 2nd January

Hello everyone....

Hi Everyone.....

 We hope you have all had an amazing weekend. We loved our surprise Christmas room at pre-school when we came in on Monday. We have loved playing in the Stick man  role play area and the Christmas dress up shop. We love all the lights. We will continue to play in the Christmas room for the next two weeks. We have been listening to lots of Christmas stories and signing some Christmas songs at group time. 

On Monday and Tuesday morning we went over to school to explore Narnia and walking through Narnia. On Wednesday a group of children went to visit the residents at care home. We sang songs, listened to a story and played with the parachute. We all enjoyed some yummy Christmas cake which we made at preschool The residents really enjoyed our cakes. We had a lovely time. Another group had PE with Colleen and Lauren and enjoyed exploring the climbing equipment..  On Thursday morning we had the school photograph come and take our photo at pre-school . In the afternoon we had great fun dancing around in the snowflakes. We also created snowy day pictures. On Friday afternoon a group of children went to St Georges Church to decorate the Christmas tree with the decorations we made. We had a good look around the church and at everyone else's decorated Christmas trees. Throughout the week we have been busy making christmas decorations for the christmas trees at St Georges Church and St Mary's Church. 

Throughout the week we have been busy decorating our Christmas Cakes with icing and decorations. We used the skills of rolling out the icing, brushing the jam on and decorating with sprinkles using a pincer grip. We have also been doing some printing on our Christmas bags.  Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with popoids, toolo and plastic straws. Our finger frenzy this week we have been using the geoboards and elastic bands to make shapes.  We have been mark making on whiteboards.  On the number table this week we have been  giving the elephants the correct number of links to the numeral. We have been busy exploring shaving foam and cornflour.

We have been exploring rhyming throughout the week at group time with a variety of fun games and stories. Also we continue to talk about Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. In our Harold Scarf time this week we have been talking about sharing with our friends and kind hands and words.

This week we will be continuing with our Christmas activities including a trip to the garden centre, making mince pies for snack, creating some christmas decorations to bring home, sharing Christmas stories and lots more.

Home learning:

-Can you make a model using a variety of different junk modeling shapes e.g. Kitchen rolls, yoghurt pots, cardboard boxes etc?
-Can you make a den and share a story inside your den?
-Can you think of words that rhyme?

We have our trip to Poundbury garden centre this week to see the Christmas Displays and to have a drink in the cafe. Please return permission slips for this trip if you haven't already done so. 

On Tuesday morning we have our Family Christmas Breakfast in the main school hall from 8.30am-9.00am. Please return slip if you haven't already done so. We are really looking forward to seeing you all there.

Stay and play morning sessions are now posted next to our door on the window. It would be great to see you. These run once a week on a different morning each week from 8.30am-9.00am. We also have one every half term on a Saturday. This week stay and play is on Friday morning at 8.30-9.00am. We also have one this Saturday from 10-11.30am.
