Hello everyone....

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a wonderful weekend with your families and friends.

Last week we had a great week exploring some of our favourite books.  On Tuesday we enjoyed listening to The Blue Balloon and Balloon. We had great fun exploring mixing colours using primary colours onto a balloon cut out. We explored painting on one side and folding the paper to find out what happens. In the afternoon we did some balloon science experiments based on the story of The Blue Balloon. We explored static electricity. Also we welcomed Mary from Dorchester library for story time and a sing song. It was lovely to welcome our families to join us for this session. On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the care home to sing and eat delicious jam cupcakes. The theme of the week was based on children's stories to celebrate World Book Day. We also enjoyed sharing the story of Shark in the Park with the residents. The other group of children had PE with Mr Treble and used the climbing apparatus. In the afternoon we had great fun making our own stories. We drew pictures for our story and Lauren scribed our stories based on our pictures. On Thursday morning we had our trip to Dorchester Library. We went on a big blue coach. When we got to the library we got to have a tour of the whole library. We listened to a story about a library cat and spent time looking at all the different books. We got to choose a book to bring back to pre-school to have in the book corner. At the end we had a lovely sing song. In the afternoon we got meet an author who read a story about a rat. On Friday it was PANTS Day and we watched the video of Pantosaurus. We talked about this very important message and then designed our own pants. We also had a great sing song with Alex who is a Calypsonian. He played his guitar and told us a story about some chicks. Also we had a great time meeting some dachshund puppys. We found out all about them and got to stroke them.  We have enjoyed constructing with the magnetic lego, wooden shaped blocks and dinosaurs and making monsters using the Duplo. In the number area we have been playing with the 5 little ducks and singing the song. We have been mark making on foil using coloured whiteboard pens. We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools and bug pieces to make our own bugs.  On our finger frenzy table this week we have been using Tap a Shape to make a variety of constructions transports. We have used the pictures to copy and using the hammer to bang in the pins. On the small world table we had the story of We're going on a bear hunt. We were great at retelling the story using the props. Throughout the week we have now learnt all the Read Write inc picture names in group time. We have also met Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have played the lots of Fred frog games. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories.

This week we will be exploring Spring and frogs. If anyone has or knows someone with some frogspawn we would love some.
