Autumn and pumpkins.

Dear All,
We end the half term with one of our favourite stories 'Pumpkin soup' If you are not familiar with this story, its a lovely story about friendship, kind words, thinking of others and pumpkin soup.
We will be thinking about what the story means, using pumpkins for counting, crafts and making some soup.

JIGSAW. the children will continue to think about responsibility, and finishing planting our cress seeds that the children should be responsible for at home.

SOUNDS AND LETTERS. This week we will continue to listen to different styles of music, and trying to recognise the different instruments. Have you tried this at home, its fun and lovely to hear what instruments the children think are playing.

We are still collecting pictures of numbers for our number hunt poster. try and find one and bring it in if you can.

DATE FOR THE DIARY. The 10th of November is an information session to find out about numicon, writing, sounds and lots more. There will be lots of things to look at find out about. (There will not be a talk by me!)
At the session we will be ho;ding a cake sale in memory of Fiona Trevett who was a chairman of pre school and a parent of past pupils at our school who sadly passed away at the end of September. Donations to the hospice. I hope you will all be able to attend.

Have a lovely half term and don't forget we break up on Thursday 22 October.

autumn continues....

Thank you to everyone who donated produce to the harvest festival. The children enjoyed making 'pots of produce' . We also made lots of biscuits, leaves and biscuit spiders for our 'woodland walk' display. Lots of pictures will be on display this coming week.
Also a big thank you to all of you who did some baking at home and brought it in to share , or a photo to look at, all delicious and enjoyed by all.

This coming week the children will be completing the autumn wreaths they have been making, using hand prints in autumn colours.

JIGSAW. The question is 'what are we responsible for'. For example keeping our playroom tidy,  not moving toys to other rooms, therefore making sure all activities and games are complete for our friends, and helping to hand out plates and food at snack time. The children will be planting cress seeds and bringing them home to look after, to be responsible for.
What is your child responsible for at home?....do let us know.

SOUNDS AND LETTERS. We will be listening to lots of different styles of music this week. Listening carefully to recognise different instruments, and talking about what the music sounds like to them. We will also be reading and listening to autumn poems and stories.

One of the children brought in a photo of a number they saw when they were out with their Mummy, from that we thought we would make a big number hunt  wall poster, so please, please bring in a picture from a magazine, newspaper, comic, photo, (or anything else you can think of!) of a number 1-20 or an even bigger number if your child can recognise it. We will add to the poster when ever you can bring in a picture.
Stay and play this week is Tuesday 13th October.

Harvest

Hello everyone,
Last week the children have been enjoying autumn crafts ready to display in the school hall for harvest festival. We will continue with those this week whilst we make some treats for the harvest cafe at school, as well as a 'showstopper' for the harvest festival.

PLEASE don't forget your harvest donations of produce. the children really enjoy making parcels and packets to sell. please bring them in by Thursday.

This coming week we will talk about harvest and what it is, farms, food and tractors.

JIGSAW.  last week we talked about kind hands and made a poster with the children's thoughts about all the things kind, gentle hands can do. This week with the children we will be making a set of golden rules, that is the way the children think we should all behave in our pre school. We can refer to this in the future!

Some of the children have been taking part in activities using the i pad, some parents have asked if all the children will be able to have a go. Of course we make sure all the children experience these lovely opportunities. However to let each child enjoy the experience takes time, so these things may often take a half term to get through everyone.

SOUNDS AND LETTERS. we continue on from last week with our listening activities.

The children are getting so good at finding shapes in the environment, continue to do this at home in the kitchen, the lounge, the garden, toys, books shopping. shapes are everywhere. (don't forget WOWS)
