Last week we continued to explore the story of The gingerbread Man which the children have really enjoyed and our amazing at recalling the whole story and refrains.

On Monday morning our last group of children made their gingerbread man to bring home and decorate. The children made me one and I had it for lunch. It was delicious. In the afternoon we did the story of The gingerbread man on NOW PRESS PLAY. The children were great at acting out the story and following the instructions.

On Tuesday a group of children had PE with Mr Treble and used the climbing frame equipment with ladders. The children became really confident at climbing the equipment and challenging themselves to see how high they could climb. In the afternoon we made our own gingerbread man finger puppets and used the puppet theatre to recall the story.

On Wednesday we used all the great junk modelling resources to make a boat and we tested them out to see if they sank or floated to carry the gingerbread man across the river. There were lots of amazing boats made using different materials. In the afternoon we played on the interactive whiteboard the gingerbread number game. Here is a link:- https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/gingerbread-man-game

On Thursday morning we worked in groups making a large gingerbread man by drawing around a friends body and then painting it. It was great fun and we painted with brushes and our hands.

In the afternoon we made a bridge outside for the gingerbread man to cross. We had to think about what we could use to make a bridge. We were amazing critical thinkers and were able to adapt our bridge by making it taller. We then had to work out how to get on the bridge. Great team work. The children all challenge themselves to cross the river and were great at balancing along the planks. It was so much fun.

On Friday we made a story map in groups of The gingerbread man story. We were amazing at recalling the story and drawing pictures of what happened. In The afternoon we tidied the garden by sweeping up all the leaves. The children were great helpers and really enjoyed it.

Throughout the week the children have been experimenting with different objects to see which ones float and sink. They have recorded their finding and explain why things float and sink. The children have loved the finger frenzy with popping the bubble wrap. In The construction area the children have been exploring the Luna Park and how to make the cogs go round. We have also been mark making on the perspex frame with cotton buds. We have been using the vet role play into a hospital and been making each other better.

We have learnt the picture names for the Read write inc cards M-Maisie next to the moutain,A-Apple,S-Snake, d-dinosaur, t-tower, I-insect, n-net, p-pirate, g-girl, o-orange, C-caterpillar.

On Monday and Tuesday we made our own houses out of junk modelling. We used a variety of media and techniques in creating our houses. On Monday afternoon we did a science experiment with the hairdryer. We made a straw, stick and brick house and the experimented which materials blew with the hairdryer. On Tuesday morning a group had PE with Mr Treble and they used the apparatus. The children did lots of balancing, climbing, jumping and crawling over, under and on the apparatus. They really enjoyed the session. On Tuesday afternoon we did a science experiment using sugar cubes. We made a house of sugar cubes and Colleen poured hot water over it. We watched to see what happened. The sugar cubes dissolved. We also predicted what would happen if you poured cold water over it. On Wednesday morning we used the NOW PRESS PLAY headsets and acted out the story of The three little pigs. On Wednesday afternoon a group of children made pastry pigs for our snack. The children enjoyed rubbing the butter into the flour and then rolling it out with a rolling pin. They then folded the pastry to make a pig face. They tasted delicious. On Thursday when we arrived at pre-school we had some post from the wolf. He sent us some wolf masks and asked us to go on an adventure to find 3 little pigs. It was very exciting and we took up the challenge and found 3 not so little pigs at the roundhouse area and we huffed and puffed their houses down.  We also made some yummy fruit kebabs for snack time. In the afternoon we were all interested at having a another go with the NOW PRESS PLAY headsets.
On Friday afternoon we went to the trim trail and we were all resilient at keeping on trying. We also enjoyed rolling down the hills.
