Dens

Image result for dens

Hello everyone,

Last week we had a fantastic STEM week with lots of making and science experiments. During the week we made shooting rockets with straws, balancing robots, flyer's along with dancing raisins and an experiment with skittles. On Wednesday afternoon the children worked with Year 4 children making marble runs using junk modelling and marble run kits. Also they made a golf ball and water run outside using the large construction. They worked really well together and it was a fantastic afternoon.
This week we have also enjoyed standing up and performing our own songs to our friends at group time. We have used the musical instruments to go with the song of 'I am the music man'.

This week we will be making dens inside and outside using different resources along with putting a tent up. We will be visiting the roundhouse and talking about what it is made of and using it as a den as well. We will be reading some stories about camping out and making dens throughout the week. We will be having some picnic snacks outside as long as weather is fine.

If you would like to catch up about your child's progress before the end of term please come and see me to arrange a time.

On Tuesday 27th June, Mr Gibson is holding a coffee morning for all our preschool parents to talk about reading. Please do come along.

This week is Helen last week with us at pre-school. I and all the pre-school team would like to wish her Good Luck with her new venture as manager at the new pre-school in Cerne Abbas. It has been amazing having Helen as part of our team for the past 8 years. Helen has made every child's first experience of Prince of Wales Pre-school an exciting, safe and fun experience. She has made all our families very welcome and given them such a positive environment for their child's first experience of pre-school. We will all greatly miss Helen but we all wish her well in her new role.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

We had a great first week back after half term. At the beginning of the week we talked about what we had been doing in half term during group time and then drawing a picture of our favourite thing we did in half term. It was lovely that so many children bought in pictures and leaflets of what they had been doing.
We have been making strawberry ice cream and mango fruit lollies and tasting out what we have made. We really enjoyed making them and tasting them. Yummy!!!
In group time we talked about our favourite flavour and made a tally. Chocolate ice cream was the most popular.
We have collaged or water coloured our choice of an ice cream in a cone or a bowl with our favourite flavour. We thought about the colours of our favourite ice cream and cone. We were all amazing at carefully painting within the lines and having good control of the paintbrush. (Our ice cream display will go up this week.)
The children have really enjoyed playing in the ice cream parlour role play shop. The have been the customer and the shop keeper. In Group time we have been looking at different coins and notes we may use in the shops and the value of each of the coins. They have been very interested in this and then have put it into practice in the role play shop.
On Thursday afternoon we had a surprise visitor... Tara from the Dorchester Opportunity Group bought in her corn snakes. The children really enjoyed looking at the snakes and finding out all about them. (Pictures will be up soon).

This week we will be making a surprise in the kitchens for Father's Day. We will also be making cards and talking about our dads and why they are special to us and how they help us. Will be putting all our words we come up with into a Tagxedo. We will be sharing lots of stories about Our dads. If you have any special dad's books please do bring them in.

Letter and Sounds:- A mixture of rhyming, initial sounds and musical instruments.

Home learning:- Have you got a favourite photo of your dad you would like to show your friends?
