Hello everyone....

Hi everyone....

we hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and it is lovely to see the beginning of lighter evenings.

This week we have enjoyed sharing the story of The Gingerbread Man and are great with joining in with the repeated refrains. On Monday we had great fun playing with the ice and transporting it around the preschool playground. We enjoyed using the hammers to break it into smaller pieces. Also we have entered a poem competition aimed at preschool aged children. We have been sharing with an adult our favourite foods, colours and things to do for our poem. On Tuesday and Friday morning in small groups have been cooking gingerbread men in the kitchen. We have used the skills of using one handed tools, rolling out our dough and using a gingerbread cutter to make our shape. They looked very yummy and we hope you enjoyed decorating them. We would love to see some pictures. If you have not cooked this week, you will cook next week. On Tuesday afternoon we made gingerbread people puppets and we were amazing at using the scissors to cut the shape out. We used a variety of media to decorate them with. On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the care home to sing and eat delicious cakes. The other group of children had PE with Mr Treble. In the afternoon we did a science experiment to explored what happened when you put a gingerbread man in a liquid of water, oil and milk. We talked about floating and sinking. On Thursday morning we played a game on the computer with gingerbread man and we had to count his buttons and find the correct numeral. In the afternoon we went on a explore around the school grounds and played on the Trim Trail and had a great game of football. We have enjoyed constructing with the duplo and the transparent wooden shapes with the wooden houses and rubber transport shapes. In the number area we have been matching the correct number of buttons to the numeral on the gingerbread man. We have also been talking about the different emotions on each of the gingerbread men faces.   We have enjoyed marking making in the ginger using  sticks. We have also enjoyed using the playdough to cut out gingerbread men using a variety of tools and materials including gems, buttons and pom poms. In the small world area we have been busy acting out the story of the Gingerbread man using the props and characters. The children are amazing with the repeated refrains of the story. We have continue to love bathing and caring for the dollies in the water tray this week. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been threading the gingerbread man outline with the skill of back to front and in and out.

Throughout the week we have begun to learn the Read Write inc picture names in group time. We have learned Maisie next to the mountain, apple, snake, dinosaur, insect, net, pirate, orange, girl and caterpillar. We have also met Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have played the lots of Fred frog games. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories.
