Hello everyone.....

 Hi everyone....

we hope you have all had a fantastic weekend with family and friends.

This week we have enjoyed continuing sharing the story of The Gingerbread Man and are great with joining in with the repeated refrains.  On Monday a group of children cooked some gingerbread men to bring home. They looked delicious.  We had a delivery of eggs at the main school entrance. We went over to the main school in small groups to discover the eggs. We were very excited by the eggs and had lots of discussions about how they got there and what might be inside. In the afternoon the gingerbread man arrived at pre-school and we got to meet them. We acted out the story in the preschool garden. It was lots of fun. We made a bridge using the large construction outside for the gingerbread man to cross the river. On Tuesday we received a letter about the eggs and also they arrived in our classroom. We spent lots of time observing the eggs and using the books and the internet to find out about the eggs. We also drew round each other on large pieces of paper and painted them as gingerbread people. On Wednesday morning we discovered that the eggs had hatched but the creature escaped. We had a look around preschool to see if we could find the creature. On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the care home to sing and eat delicious gingerbread man.The children cooked the gingerbread man to share with with the residents. The other group of children had PE with Mr Treble.  In the afternoon we used the Now Press Play headsets to act out the story of the gingerbread man. On Thursday we had an amazing day with a visit from T-rex Jam and the baby dinosaurs. The children joined in whole school experiences, a special class visitor and a green screen and visit with the baby dinosaurs. We then spent lots of time in the pre-school garden using spades to dig for dinosaur bones!! On Friday we had a very special visitor come and visit us. Chloe and baby Sophia came to meet us. We got to hold baby Sophia and watch her have her bottle and have her nappy changed. In the afternoon we used the PE apparatus in the preschool and did some great climbing. Throughout the week we have been exploring floating and sinking and have been experimenting to find out which objects float and sink.

We have enjoyed constructing marble runs and making models with the large rubber lego blocks. In the number area we have been playing the game of making a gingerbread man. This involved rolling the dice and counting how many dots on the dice. Then collecting the parts of the gingerbread man e.g. eyes, buttons, hair.  We have enjoyed marking making on the transparent board with cotton buds and paint. We have also enjoyed using the playdough to cut out gingerbread men using a variety of tools and materials including gems, buttons and pom poms. In the small world area we have been busy acting out the story of the Gingerbread man using the puppets and puppet theatre. The children are amazing with the repeated refrains of the story.  On our finger frenzy table this week we have been popping bubble wrap.

Throughout the week we have begun to learn the Read Write inc picture names in group time. We have learned Maisie next to the mountain, apple, snake, dinosaur, insect, net, pirate, orange, girl and caterpillar, Kangaroo and Umbrella. We have also met Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have played the lots of Fred frog games. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories.
