Hello Everyone,

We have had a great first week back and all the children have really settled in well into year 2 of preschool. In group time we shared our holiday snapshots home learning with our friends and talked about our summer holidays. These are now up on display. We have also drawn a picture of our favourite thing to do during the summer holidays. These are up on display in the classroom.

We met Jennie Jigsaw(puppet) and told her our name. Jennie is very good at remembering everyone name. She also asked us about our favourite toys and food we like to eat.
On Wednesday afternoon we got the guinea pigs out and held them on our laps in the square frame in pre-school. We really enjoyed this and were really caring towards them. Throughout the week we have been feeding the chickens and guinea pigs and collecting eggs.
On Thursday afternoon we did some Cosmic Yoga which the children really enjoyed. Afterwards we went on the balance bikes around the school grounds. We had a go on the new hop scotch at school as well.

On Friday afternoon we read the story of 'One year with Kipper'. This books looks at the different months and what happens during the month. In particular we looked at September. Kipper went blackberry picking. We decided to go blackberry picking in the school grounds. The children loved finding the blackberries. We bought them back to Pre-school and washed them and made some apple and blackberry muffins along with pear and blackberry crumble. A display of this will be up shortly.

Jennie Jigsaw: This week we will continue with our Jigsaw topic of ‘who am I?’ and ‘what do I like?’ We will be talking about our favourite toys and things to do.
Home learning:- Have you got a favourite toy or a favourite activity you like to do?

Bears:  We are going to be starting our theme of bears this week. We will begin the week asking the children what they know about bears and what they would like to find out. We will be doing lots of fun activities linked to bears for the next few weeks.

Letter and Sounds:- We will be playing a sounds lotto game.

Home Learning:- Can you find a bear story, make a picture of a bear, an activity about a bear or bring in a picture of a bear?

A letter has gone home about popping along for a coffee and information session about Year 2 of preschool on Tuesday 18th September.  It would be lovely to see you all there.

This week Stay and Play will be on Wednesday 12th September from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there. Saturday Stay and play is on 22nd September from 10.00-11.30am.

On Saturday 22nd September we have got one of our community make over afternoons from 2.00-5.00pm. We will be working up in the nature garden. Please bring gardening tools.

Don’t forget if you have any WOW’S at home please bring them into share with us at pre-school.

On Tuesday 11th September at 7.30pm in the Main school staff room there is a POWSA meeting. POWSA is our Parent Fundraising Association who organise events like the Christmas Fair, Bingo, Summer Fair ETC.

WHAT IS POWSA?

For those who have never attended a POWSA meeting before the thought can be intimidating but we are all friendly parents who want to help the school offer the best of opportunities to all the pupils who pass through it's doors, whilst having a little fun along the way. We give up a little bit of time every now and then to help provide some of those extras that help make our school such a fantastic place and if you would like to learn more we would love to see you.

If you have questions please do come and see me or a member of staff.

Here to a great second week.

Julia and Pre-school Team
