Global Awareness

Image result for african pictures

Hello Everyone,

Last week we began the week talking about what we knew about Africa and what we would like to find out. We looked at the big atlas to see where Africa was in the world and where we lived. On Monday Morning we went on our flight to Moscow. We went through airport control and then got into the Prince of Wales Plane (School hall) and flew to Moscow. The children really enjoyed this imaginative role play. We looked at the African flags and then made our african flags.
On Tuesday we went on a safari. We watched a video of an african Safari. We saw all the different animals that live in Africa. On Wednesday we read the story of Handa's Surprise. We tried all the different fruits from the story over the week for our snack. I was very proud of the children trying new foods. We also painted Handa's surprise fruit basket. These will be used for the art display at school. On Thursday we listened to some African music and then went to the school hall and used the Afican drums to copy rhythms and make up our own. On Friday we did our gummy bear dance at the dance show. The children have really enjoyed doing this dance and were amazing at showing the rest of school and parents the dance. Well done Pre-school.
We have also been talking about how we can look after our world by recycling. The children have made some recycling bins for plastic, paper and food waste.

This week we will be joining the school with Global Awareness fortnight and we will be learning all about Africa. Over the next week we will be exploring musical instruments, foods, safari, animals, jewellery, housing, music, songs and lot's more.

Home learning
Has your beanstalk begun to grow? Can you bring a picture in of your beanstalk?
Can you bring in some home learning about Africa? Could be a picture, book, food, made an instrument or jewellery etc.

Sounds and letters

A mixture of rhyming, initial sounds and musical instruments.

Jennie Jigsaw

This term Jennie jigsaw is talking about changing me. We will be talking about how our bodies are changing as time moves forward and how they have already changed since we were a baby. It would be great if you could bring a baby photo.

If you have applied suncream to your child before school please could you let a member of staff know. If you have ticked to supply your own suncream, please could you make sure children have this when they come to pre-school ready for us to apply.
