Global Awareness fortnight

Hello everyone,

Hope all our Dad's have had a lovely Father's Day.
Last week we all cooked some flapjack cookies for our dad's. The children really enjoyed making at treat for their dad's. We hope they were yummy. We also used watercolour paints to paint a sports car picture of our choice. The children painted with such control when painting their cars. We saw some fantastic name writing as well when writing their names in the cards. We talked about all the things that are special about our dad's and what things we enjoy doing with our dad's. I made this into a tagxedo which is on the back of the Father's Day card.
We have also listened to some different variations of the story of Jack and the beanstalk which the children have really enjoyed. We have seen lot's of small world play of the story and recalling the story in the children's play.
We have been playing the bean game which the children really enjoyed playing and were playing it independently outside and making up their own type of beans.  We planted some beans outside with Sharon which will grow and we will be making a bean wigwam.
On Thursday afternoon we went onto the school field and practice some races for Sports Day. We did some running, wheelbarrow and dressing up races.

This week we will be joining the school with Global Awareness fortnight and we will be learning all about Africa. Over the next two weeks we will be finding about the African flag, musical instruments, foods, safari, animals, jewellery, housing, music, songs and lot's more.
Also we will be talking about recycling and how we can begin recycling at pre-school with our paper, plastic and rain water. We will be reading the story of Handa's Surprise.

Home learning
Has your beanstalk begun to grow? Can you bring a picture in of your beanstalk?

Can you bring in some home learning about Africa? Could be a picture, book, food, made an instrument or jewellery etc.

Sounds and letters

A mixture of rhyming, initial sounds and musical instruments.

Jennie Jigsaw

This term Jennie jigsaw is talking about changing me. We will be talking about how our bodies are changing as time moves forward and how they have already changed since we were a baby. It would be great if you could bring a baby photo.
