Hello everyone.....
We hope you have all had a wonderful weekend in the beautiful sunshine. We hope you all enjoyed your Father's Day surprises.
This week we have been learning about our home country of England and maps. We have also been looking at the English currency. We have shared the story of Charlie and London Visit London.
On Monday we began making our Father's Day surprises including our card and making flapjacks. We continued this activity throughout the week. On Monday and Tuesday we explored the country of France. We learnt the colour of the flag, tried brioche, croissants and Brie. We learnt some French including Bonjour, Au Revoir, Merci and French counting.
On Tuesday we had kickboxing and we went on an adventure to France. We looked at a local map of Dorchester and found out where we lived in Dorchester compared to pre-school and our friends. We also learnt all about maps. In the afternoon we looked at England landmarks and then had a go at making them using a variety of construction. The children had a great imagination and created some amazing models.
On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the Care home for a Sing song, Story and cake. We had a great time with the parachute and bubbles. The other group had PE and practiced team games for Sports Day. In the afternoon we had our Relax Kids session with Sian.
On Thursday morning we had our grandparents for snack and a play. We had a great time chatting over snack with them. After snack we played in the classrooms and showed them all the diffrent activities we have out. It was lovely to see all the grandparents having a lovely time interacting in diffrent play situations. In the afternoon Group A went for the transition visit over at Reception class. That had a wonderful time exploring Recpetion and Meeting Miss Gooden and Mrs Rogers. We had a lovely time playing outside in the afternoon once the rain had disappeared.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the playmobilo, magnetic shapes, toolo and magnetic lego. In the number area we have been playing with the different size and oloured teddies. We have been making patterns and repeated patterns with them. we have been playing with the rhyming bag. In the small world area we have been playing with the small world London Scene. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been using the lacing pens and boards. We have been making cakes using playdough, gems, candles, numbers. We have had the school uniform and shoe shop role play area and the train set in room2.

Notices
As the sunny weather is appearing please could all children come to school with suncream on. Also we will reapply suncream after lunch if needed.
We are going to be exploring around the world from this week. We will be starting with England and then visiting other countries which our families have links to. If you would like to come in and talk to the children about a link to a country you have, please come and speak to Julia.
