Hello everyone....

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a great weekend with family and friends.

Last week we enjoyed listening to a variety of farm stories along with autumn stories. We also talked about diffrent fruit and vegtables and where they grow e.g. on a tree, under the ground, on a plant.

On Monday morning in small groups we went to look at the big green tractor outside school and used lots of vocabulary to describe it. We did some painting of our own pictures of the green tractor. On Monday group of children went to PE and pretended that we were on the farm, moving in different ways. We began by being the farmer, getting ready for the day on the farm balancing on one foot whilst put on our socks and wellies.

We then thought about which animals are on the farm and how they moved, do they have 4 legs or 2 legs, do they move quickly or slowly. Do they walk, run, gallop or perhaps flap their wings.

Finally we pretended to feed the chickens concentrating on cross body movement.  In the afternoon we did some conker rolling with the tubes and pipes. It was great fun.

On Tuesday morning did some junk modelling and made tractors. We learnt about how to join materials together. In the afternoon we did some leaf threading using a needle and wool.

On Wednesday morning a group of children created a shopping list and walked to Tesco's and piced up the shopping list items along with looking around Tesco and all the diffrent things you can buy. A group of us went to the care home for a sing song, story and to eat cake. In the afternoon we made apple boats and explored how they floated and sank. We also went and played on the trim trail and did some great balancing and swinging.

On Thursday we did some vegetable printing. We talked about the different types of vegetable and fruits and where they grow e.g under the ground, on a tree etc. In the afternoon we went to Reception for a story and then on the way back had a play on the playtrail.

On Friday morning we finished our vegetable printing. On Friday afternoon we went to Maiden Castle Farm and learnt all about harvest on the farm. We looked at the cows, sheep and horses. We looked at all farm machinery including the combine harvester. We loved stamping in the muddy puddles. We had a snack in the farm classroom. It was an amazing trip and we all had a great time.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed the finger frenzy table with sunflower heads and tweezers. We used the tweezers to pick the sunflower seeds out of the heads. We practiced using the tweezers one hand and with great hand eye coordination. We have enjoyed exploring the plastic fruit and sorting them into colours and groups in the number area. We have been very creative building marble runs and testing them out. We then went on to adapt them to make them bigger. We have been exploring the torches with different materials including coloured transparent film. We have been talking about what we have observed shinning the torch through the different materials. We have be constructing with zoo waffle and magnetic shapes . On the small world table we have been playing with the allotment scene and sharing our knowledge of growing vegetables. In the playdough we have been playing with the plastic animals and making them homes.

We continue to be Respectful Raya which is one of our Building learning Powers. Here is some information about Respectful Raya:-

If you could provide us with a clearly marked water bottle that we can keep at preschool all year. This way we can ensure the children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the days with us. We find the children drink more from their own bottles. Can all drinks bottles be able to be placed in the dishwasher.

Every week there will be a blog about everything we have done during the week, what is happening at pre-school in the next week, home learning you may like to do and notices. This is normally published on a Sunday evening.

We place all lunch boxes in the fridge, please label lunch boxes and drinks bottles with your child's name. If you would like to order your child a hot lunch, please speak to a member of staff and Caroline will arrange a hot lunch code for you.

It would great if all pre-school t-shirts and jumpers can be named.
