Hello everyone......

  Hi Everyone,

We hope you have all had a wonderful sunny weekend with your friends and family.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed sharing the story of Jack and the beanstalks. We are amazing at the repeated refrains throughout the story.   If you have a copy of this story at home please do bring it in to share. It great to see the different variations.

On Tuesday we had some special visitors come in to pre-school. Alishba and her mummy bought in her 3 black kittens. We enjoyed finding out all about kittens and loved holding and stroking them. We also learnt the beans game. An adult shouted out a type of bean and we had to do the action. For example- runner bean- Running around, jelly bean- wobbling around

On Wednesday a group of children visited the care home and had a lovely time singing songs and enjoyed eating Lemon drizzle cake. Another group had PE with Mr Treble playing team races. In the afternoon and on Thursday and Friday we planted our own magic beans and drew a castle at the end of the stick to bring home. We look forward to seeing pictures of your magic bean growing to the castle. We talked about what a seed needs to be able to grow.

On Thursday afternoon and Friday morning we went in groups to the castle park post box to post our invitation to our grandparents.

 On Friday afternoon a group of children visited Wolfeton Manor Care home and we took our pre-school teddies with us for a teddy bears picnic. We had some yummy strawberries, carrot/cucumber sticks and cake to eat. We listened to the story of Whatever next by Jill Murphy and sang some teddy bear songs. We also coloured in some teddies to display in the window. We had a great time and loved seeing Max the dog but missed Poppy the cat.

We have enjoyed constructing with the Duplo, magnetic lego, small octagons and magnetic shapes. In the number area we have been exploring different types of bean seeds and matching numeral to quantity (1-6). We have been sorting the pictures into initial sound pots.  We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools, beans, pipe cleaners, green leaves to make beanstalks. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been using geoboards and elastic bands. We have made all sorts of shapes. On the small world table we have been playing with the puppet theatre and the puppets from the story of Jack and the beanstalk.  In the water tray we have had bubbly water with different construction shapes to make a castle. In our role play we have had a home corner with a rather large Tiger.

We have  met the Confident caterpillar and he has been looking out for all the confident  things we have been doing. It is great to see how every child so confident in a variety of routines and activities.

We have met reni the Renee Reciprocal Bee who is all about team work.

How can you help your children establish Reciprocity at home? Reciprocity is all about give and take, the fundamental skills for life long learning that we are aiming to instil are those of Interdependence - balancing independence and sociability;

Collaboration - the skills of learning with others; Empathy - thinking about others’ points of view and feelings; Listening - it’s more than just hearing and Imitation - picking up others’ habits and values. You can do this through play and day to day activities at home by: •Demonstrating/modelling being a good learner. •Work, play and learn alongside your children, enabling them to pick up good habits through imitation. •Make expectations of turn-taking and cooperation clear.

In our Read write Inc groups with have been learning the following sounds:
Julia's, Colleen and Lauren's group- m,a,s,d,t, i, n,p,g,o
Sharon's- Picture names and rhyming

Here are some Read write inc videos to support the letter sounds above:
