Hello everyone......

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend with the beautiful autumn sunshine we have had.

Last week we had a great week exploring fireworks through a variety of activities. We learnt some new Autumn and fireworks songs. At group time we talked about fireworks e.g. sounds, colours etc.

On Monday we used paint and different tools to explore different techniques in creating our own firework picture. We used toilet rolls, forks and cotton bud tips. On Tuesday and Wednesday we did a science experiment of how to melt chocolate. We made them into breadstick sparklers. On Tuesday afternoon we used watered down paints and pipettes onto kitchen roll. We watched the colours spread and mix. On Wednesday morning a group of children had PE with Mr Treble. We used some equipment to practice jumping off and landing on two feet, balancing and climbing over and under. We also made rockets using junk modelling. On Thursday we made our names into rockets. We used the skill of recognising our name, recognising a triangle shape and using our fine motor skills to peel the star stickers off to put on our picture. On Thursday afternoon we did some Cosmic Kids yoga. It was great fun. On Friday we talked about Remembrance Day and watched the CBeebies poppies video. We also made a poppy biscuit and a large powder paint poppy outside. Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with mega blocks and Geo mag. Our finger frenzy this week has been using spoons and spooning the marbles into the different sized bottles.  We have been mark making in the glitter tray.  On the number table this week we have had coloured teddy bears and have been copying a pattern card along with Julia showing us how to make a repeated pattern.  In our role play are we have been playing with the woodland and campfire scene along with the tent.

We have been exploring rhyming throughout the week at group time with a variety of fun games and stories. Also we continue to talk about Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. In our Harold Scarf time we have been sharing the story of Elmer. We have talked about how everyone is different and similar in different ways and how special each and everyone of us are. Also we have introduced the Word bird... When we see a bird we say there's the word bird. We then tell the child/children a word and the meaning of the word. I used the word Magnificent this week.

Here are some pictures from this week...

This week we are going to be exploring Spiders and have lots of activities to support our learning including a science experiment to make some spiders move, potato masher spiders, hedgehog number game, Christmas Cakes and making a large spiders web outside. We also are going to be sharing the story of Spinderella.

Home learning:

Can you go a spider hunt and find a spider? I can find out a fact about a spider?
Can you go a number hunt and name the different numerals you find?
Can you begin to get yourself dressed?
