Hello everyone....

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a great weekend.

Last week we continued to enjoy the stories of Apple Tree Farm at group time. On Monday afternoon we went to Maiden Castle Farm and learnt all about harvest on the farm. We looked at the cows, sheep, horses and pigs. We looked at all farm machinery including the combine harvester. We loved stamping in the muddy puddles. We had a snack in the farm classroom. It was an amazing trip and we all had a great time. On Tuesday we had a visitor in to talk about being a humanists. In the afternoon we had a visitor in to talk about his Christianity faith and his love of music and art. We had paper and pens and we draw what we were thinking of as he played his guitar. On Wednesday we had PE with Mr Treble and played lots of games which involved moving in different ways and finding a space avoiding obstacles. On Wednesday afternoon we cut up tomatoes, onions and peppers to make our home made pasta tomato sauce for lunch on Thursday. We used a mouli to blend the vegetables once they were cooked. On Thursday we all helped to prepare different parts of our lunch including making an apple crumble and setting the tables for lunch. It was an amazing lunch and enjoyed by everyone. On Friday we went to Harvest assembly at the main school and sang Dingle dangle scarecrow and Old McDonald had a farm.  In The afternoon we went on adventure around the school grounds and played on the playtrail. Throughout the week we have been making apple muffins. We went to the school orchard to collect apples and then to the chickens to collect the eggs. We then went to the kitchen and followed a recipe to make apple muffins to bring home. The smelt delicious.

On the finger frenzy table we have been practicing our threading with the wooden fruit. We have been using a pincer grip when threading. The adult have been talking about patterns and repeated patterns. In the number area we have been sorting the different types and colours of fruit into bowls and then counting them. We have really enjoyed playing with the farm on the floor.
We have continued to enjoy exploring the scales using a variety of seeds from the farm. We have enjoyed exploring filling different sized cups with different sized spoons and pouring the seeds. We have been very creative building models with mobile. We have been busy mark making using our finger in the flour. We have be constructing with the wooden transparent blocks and pebbles with playmobil people. On the small world table we have been playing with the allotment scene and sharing our knowledge of growing vegetables. In the playdough we have been making tracks with the tractors, using the animal cutters and making fields for the plastic animals. We continue to meet Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. He is one of learning powers which encourage us to keep on trying. He enjoys celebrating our resilience with us.

Here are some photos of the week....
