Hello everyone.....

Hi Everyone,

We hope you have all had a great bank holiday weekend despite the ranges of weather! It was lovely to see all the children back from the Easter hols and to hear all about their wonderful adventures.

Last week we had a great week back settling into pre-school. We enjoyed sharing our Easter Holiday News with our key worker group adults. We mark make amazing pictures of our Easter hols on Monday and Tuesday.  A group of children also had PE with Mr Treble and played some great games outside on the school field. We were fantastic at listening and following instructions.
On Tuesday Afternoon we walked to Maiden Castle Farm to see all the changes taking place in the season of Spring on the Farm. We were Brillant at walking all the way to the farm. We met Farmer Hazel and found some very cute lambs. We got to bottle feed the lambs and learn all about the sheep and wool. We also saw some cows, pigs, piglets, horses and chickens. We watched the farm machinery in action. We collected the eggs from the chickens. It was an amazing trip and we all had lots of fun.
On Wednesday morning we had a visit from the Life Ed Van. We met Harold the giraffe who talked about our body parts and how to look after ourselves. In the afternoon we did the hand washing experiment. We learnt all about how to wash our hands. We put baby oil and glitter (germs) on our hands. First we just put them in water and observed that very little glitter came off our hands. Then we put soap on our hands and washed them. The glitter then came off and we could see the bits we hadn't washed properly.
On Thursday we drew a picture of ourselves for the end of class tea towel. We looked in the mirror to help us with our drawing. We talked about the different parts of our body. A letter will be coming home soon about how to order the tea towels.
On Friday we made pasta salad. We talked about all the healthy things we could put in our pasta salad. We tried new foods. We used a knife to cut up the vegetables for our salad and used a grater. They looked very yummy. If your child bought home a pasta salad please can you return the container.
Throughout the week we have loved our new role play area which is Dinosaur world. We have been exploring dinosaur Skeltons and fossils in the sand by discovering them with brushes. We have been explorers and have loved camping out in the tent. We have really enjoyed the water tray this week which had tea in. We have been making cups of tea with the teapots, spoons, funnels and sieves. We have used lots of mathematical language. We have been busy sorting different foods into unhealthy and healthy groups. We have been talking about these foods. On the playdough table we have enjoyed making people using the different body parts. We have enjoyed threading the wooden fruits onto the string. We have been making repeating patterns with our threadings.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed a variety of stories and songs.

In our Read write Inc groups with have been learning the following sounds:-
