Here's to another great week...

Hello everyone,

Wow, what a brilliant first week back we had in Pre-school. In the mornings at group time we have enjoyed talking about our summer holiday adventures and showing our home learning. In group time we have enjoyed listening to stories with repeated refrains and we have begun to join in with the repeated refrains. In particular we have listened to Shark in the Park and Shark in the dark.
We have drawn some pictures of holiday adventures and these are up on display in the classroom.
On Wednesday morning we had a PE session with Mr Treble and played lots of games involving moving around in different ways. On Wednesday afternoon we enjoyed going out on a bike ride on the balance bikes, picking raspberries and melons for snack. We also picked some tomatoes and cucumbers.
On Thursday we cut up our tomatoes ready to roast off to make a home made pasta sauce.
On Friday we used a Moulin machine to mash up our tomatoes into a sauce.
Every morning a group of children have helped prepare snack by counting out the cups and plates. Also carrying the jugs and plates to put on the table.

This week we will be continuing with listening to stories with repeated refrains at group time. If you have any summer holiday home learning you would like to bring please do. We will be looking in the mirror and painting a self portrait to put up on display in the classroom. We will also be finishing off our mark making of our summer adventures. We will be playing a number game in small groups.

Jennie Jigsaw
Our JIGSAW them this half term is ‘Who am I?’. Last week we enjoyed meeting Jennie Jigsaw and telling her our names and our favourite toys. This week will be talking about what things we like to do.

Letters and Sounds
We will be using the signs from Read write inc which are "my turn, your turn" "talk to your partner". We are also going to be joining in with repeated refrains and using body percussion.

Notices
Every week there will be a blog about everything that is happening at pre-school and home learning you may like to do. This is normally published on a Sunday evening.
If you are staying for lunch please place your lunchbox on the trolley ready to go into the fridge.

This week Stay and Play will be on Wednesday 11th September  from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there.

There will be a coffee morning on Wednesday 18th September at 9.00am and I will be doing a talk about what we do in Year 2 e.g. book bags, changing bags, Keyworkers, Jennie Jigsaw, Sounds and Letters,EYFS, trips, swimming etc. Please look out for the letter and hope to see lots of you there, as there will be lots of useful information to support your child.

On Tuesday 10th September at 7.30pm in the school staff room is our POWSA meeting.
WHAT IS POWSA?
For those who have never attended a POWSA meeting before the thought can be intimidating but we are all friendly parents who want to help the school offer the best of opportunities to all the pupils who pass through it's doors, whilst having a little fun along the way. We give up a little bit of time every now and then to help provide some of those extras that help make our school such a fantastic place and if you would like to learn more we would love to see you. If you have any questions please come and see myself.

Please bring any WOW's for our WOW board you have and if you need some WOW slips, please come and ask one of the staff.

Please do come and see myself if you have any questions.
Heres to a great week.

Thanks
Julia and Pre-school team
