Update letter-Sunday 28th June

POW Header.png
COVID-19 Case - Sunday 28th June 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you that one of our parents/carers has tested positive for COVID-19, we have contacted Public Health England who have advised us that there is nothing extra we need to do at this stage.

In the interest of trust and transparency though, we feel it is important that you know the following -

The parent in question has children in Pre-School (Group A Kingdom) and Year 1 (Inspired Kingdom - Group 1B). The family and any close-contacts (with the confirmed case) will now self-isolate for fourteen days.

Both children have been tested today and we await the results.

As soon as the results are shared with me, I will write to you all again.

If the results for either child are positive, both Pre-School Group A Kingdom and Year 1 Inspired Kingdom - Group 1B will close to all pupils and adults for fourteen days.

The current guidance states that if anyone in an education or childcare setting becomes unwell with a:

- new continuous cough and/or
- high temperature and/or
- a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

they must be sent home and advised to follow the COVID-19: guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection guidance.

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

- wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
- use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- wash your hands as soon as you get home
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.

Further information is available at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Please be assured that the family in question know that I am sharing this information with you all and know that we stand with them at this time.

I will update you all in due course.

As ever, we would like to remind all parents and carers that we continue to adopt a ‘YOUR CHILD, YOUR CHOICE’ ethos and will continue to fully support children and families who choose to stay at home.

We will continue to do this through our Virtual School Programme and associated support activities including phone calls, food parcels, physical resource deliveries, loan of school equipment (including desks, chairs and Chromebooks) and virtual ELSA sessions (as required).

Parents will not be penalised by the authority if they decide they do not want to take up the offer of childcare or any school sessions.

We continue to stand with you at this time.

Yours faithfully,
Mr. Gary Spracklen - Headteacher

The children had so much knowledge of different sea creatures and they enjoyed sharing this with their friends, from how a crab pinches to why jellyfish sting and how an octopus releases ink. We also made some jellyfish.

On Tuesday we read an information book about different fish. The children enjoyed comparing the different sizes and patterns of fish. We then started making our own bottle fish, decorating them in a way that made them different to others. We also had fun on the play trail, climbing up the ropes and sliding down the side. The children organised themselves independently to make sure that everyone had a go. We went to the woods where the children explored the trees. We enjoyed trying our homemade ice cream for snack. Because Thursday was a hot day, we spent lots of time in the shade where the children challenged their own learning. Some completed puzzles independently and others tried putting different sounds together to make a word. Beau was great at selecting b, a and t to make the word bat. All of the children are so good at identifying sounds and joining in with Fred talk that they are now beginning to do this independently.
