Hello everyone.....

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely weekend and it was so lovely to see the sunshine. We hope you all had a great Mothering Sunday.

On Monday morning we had PE and we practiced our ball skills through a variety of games. In the afternoon a group of children went to Reception for a play and they explored the Reception outside area. The other group of children made their Mother's day cards. On Tuesday morning we had our Kickboxing session which we all really enjoyed. We went on a monkey adventure. We used the skills of  jumping, crouching, crawling and hopping. In the afternoon we made our Mother's Day surprise of Muesli. On Wednesday morning a group of children visited the local care home for a world book day special. We shared the story of The Hungry Caterpillar and for snack we shared lots of fruits and cake. The other group of children did PE in the school hall practiced their ball skills through lots of games. In the afternoon we continued with making our mother's day cards and making Muesli. On Thursday morning for World Book Day we all dressed up as a book Character and visited Dorchester library. We went in the mini bus and Julia's van. When we got to the library we had a guided tour, choose a book to bring back to pre-school and listened to a couple of stories and sang some songs. On Friday morning we finished off our Mothers day cards and presents. In the afternoon we played on the playtrail. Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the mobil, playground construction set, magnetic lego.  In the number area we have been putting the correct number of petals on each flower. Also we have been adding flowers together and working out how many petal altogether.  We have enjoyed marking making in paint and on whiteboards. We have also enjoyed using the playdough to cut out flowers and spring animals and decorating them with gems, pipe cleaners and buttons. In the small world area we have been playing with the forest friends small world scene. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been doing lots of nuts and bolts.

We have now learnt all the Read Write Inc pictures and we are now focusing on Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have been playing lots of games with Fred. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories. We have also learnt the sound 'm,a,s'. Here is a video of the sound we have learnt to share at home- m Sound ,a Sounds sound

During group time this week we talked about Reggie the Resilient tortoise friend Rose the Resourceful Spider and met Renee the Reciprocal Bee who is all about teamwork.

How can you help your children establish Reciprocity at home?

Reciprocity is all about give and take, the fundamental skills for life long learning that we are aiming to instil are those of Interdependence - balancing independence and sociability;

Collaboration - the skills of learning with others; Empathy - thinking about others’ points of view and feelings; Listening - it’s more than just hearing and Imitation - picking up others’ habits and values. You can do this through play and day to day activities at home by: •Demonstrating/modelling being a good learner. •Work, play and learn alongside your children, enabling them to pick up good habits through imitation. •Make expectations of turn-taking and cooperation clear.

Some pictures from the week..

For this term we will be continuing to learn all about spring e.g. spring flowers, frogs, growing, Spring weather, Easter, Lambs etc.

Can you play a Fred Talk game at home?

Fingers Fred says a number and asks the children to show him that number of fingers. 1. Say ‘Fred wants you to show him th-r-ee’. 2. Ask children to say ‘th-r-ee’. Pause to see if they can blend and hold up three fingers. 3. Say ‘th-r-ee, three’. Ask children to repeat.

Stay and play morning sessions are now posted next to our door on the window. It would be great to see you. These run once a week on a different morning each week from 8.30am-9.00am. We also have one every half term on a Saturday. This week stay and play is on Wednesday morning at 8.30-9.00am.

On Friday it is red nose day and children can come to school wearing something red or dressed as their superhero – staff will also be joining in! But remember, not all superheros wear capes. A superhero can be a teaching assistant, family member or someone who has truly inspired you. A suggested donation of £1 per child on the day can be brought into class.

We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL, so please can we remind our families that the children have no products containing nuts in their lunchbox.
