Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a great weekend enjoying the sunshine.

Last week we enjoyed listening to the different variations of Shark in the Park. We listened to Shark in the dark and Oh no, Shark in the snow. We were great at joining in with the repeated refrains. On Monday we played the underwater counting game on the interactive tv. Here is a link if you would like to play it home Counting underwater game. In the afternoon we went to the park and had great fun exploring all the playground equipment. We did lots of swinging, sliding, climbing and balancing. These pictures are on a previous facebook post.  On Tuesday and Wednesday we had great fun exploring and experimenting using the torches in a dark room. We made shark shadows along with other shadows. We found sharks which were hiding around the room with our torches. We talked about what we saw and did. On Tuesday afternoon we began creating our Christmas Cards. More information will follow this week about how to order these. All money raised with support POWSA. On Wednesday morning a group of us had PE with Colleen and Lauren and we played a variety of games which involved moving around in different ways, listening and following instructions and negotiating spaces. In the afternoon we played Shape Bingo and the underwater counting game. We also played a variety of parachute games. On Thursday morning we made some shark pizzas which involved using a spoon to spread the tomato base and adding sweetcorn to make a face. We ate them for snack and they were very yummy. In the afternoon we finished our Christmas cards. We also went cooking and made some carrot cakes to bring home. We also went to soft play. On Friday we did some gardening and began preparing an area to get some new pet Guinea Pigs for Pre-school. We also had basketball with Coach Luca and we practiced our catching skills. Throughout the week we have enjoyed exploring the scales using cubes and wooden blocks. We have experimented with what happens when you put different amounts in and used the language of heavier, lighter and balanced. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been practicing our spoon skills. We used the spoons to pick up the marbles to put into the bottle. We have been learning to use them one handed. From the story of Oh no, shark in the snow we had a small world scene of the story. We played alongside others acting out the story. We have been very creative building models with duplo and magnetic shapes. We have been busy mark making using whiteboard pens on foil. In the water tray we have been catching the ducks with nets and counting how many we have caught. We have been playing with the diggers and wooden blocks and using our real experiences to play in the home corner.

We continue to meet Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. He is one of learning powers which encourage us to keep on trying. He enjoys celebrating our resilience with us.

Here are some photos of the week....

For the next fortnight we are going to be exploring food, faith and farming. We are going to be sharing lots of stories about this topic at group time.  We will be cooking some yummy foods using eggs. At snack time we will have a variety of foods to eat and will be talking about where each of the foods come from along with lots of other activities to support our learning. We also have our trip to the farm on Friday afternoon this week.

Home learning:

Can you have a go at putting your own shoes on this week?

Can you be a resilient tortoise Reggie which require you to keep on trying?

Can you go on a shape hunt and find objects which are circle, square, triangle and rectangle?

Can you cook something which comes from eggs? Talk about where the different ingredients come from. Using vocab like ingredients, recipe etc
