Christmas :-)

Hello everyone,

Last week we had a great week making the decorations for the Christmas tree Festival at St Georges Church. We listened to the story of the 12 days of Christmas and talked about the different objects in the song. We then all had a go at making a decoration for the tree.
We have now all been to post box and posted our Christmas Breakfast invitation to you. We really enjoyed going to the post box and we hope you liked your invitation. On Friday afternoon we had a special visitor. Albert's dad who is a postman came and visited us We looked at his post van.
We have enjoyed making marble runs and building with the wood blocks this week. Some great models created.
We have enjoyed listening to different rhyming stories and we are becoming confident with rhyming. We love to hear the children's rhyming words.
On Wednesday we had PE with Mr Treble and we did a variety of games in the hall.
On Thursday a group went swimming and we are becoming more confident at collecting hoops from the bottom of the pool.
On Friday morning a group of children went to watch Year 1 assembly. We did some brilliant listening and watching. We have been out on the balance bikes and have started learning some Christmas songs in preparation for our carol service.

This week we are going to the garden centre in small groups and will be visiting the cafe for a drink. We will be looking at all the decorations and talking about colour, shape, texture and the story of Christmas.
We are also going to be cooking and making a yummy surprise to bring home at Christmas. We will  start making some Christmas decorations to bring home at the end of term. We are going to be reading lots of Christmas stories and singing lots of carols and Christmas songs. On Wednesday we have got PE and Thursday there is swimming. We will be sharing the story of The Nativity this week. We have lots of Christmas activities to challenge our learning.

Letters and Sounds
We will be using the signs from Read write inc which are "my turn, your turn" "talk to your partner". Looking at stories with rhyming endings. We have got a rhyming door in our classroom and we will be adding our rhyming words to the door. This week we will be learning the Read Write Inc picture names: Girl, Orange, caterpillar, net, pirate, tower, insect dinosaur, snake Maisie next to the mountain and apple. We will be using Fred the Frog.

Home Learning

When you are out and about can you recognise different logos e.g. the Tesco sign or car make signs? Can you make a poster of ones you have found?

If you have a favourite Christmas story or song, please bring into pre-school so we can share at group time.

Notices

On Tuesday 3rd December  we have our story time at 3.10pm. Please come and join us. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there. If you are able to arrive as close to 3:10pm as possible that would be fantastic, if you do not make it until after 3:15 we would politely request that you wait to collect your child at the normal pick up time as, I am sure you will appreciate, it is quite disturbing for the children and also getting ready for the end of the day is a busy time. Many thanks for your support and cooperation on this matter.
