Father's Day and the seaside

Hello everyone,

Last week we had great fun learning about pirates. On Monday we talked in small groups about what we knew about pirates, what we would like to find out and what activities we wanted to do. Over the week we have enjoyed sharing some pirate stories which the children have bought in from home.
We have made treasure maps using tea to change the colour of the paper. We then let them dry and then looked at treasure maps in pirate stories and on the computer. We then drew our maps. These are up on the wall.
On Tuesday we had PE with Mr Treble and we did some of our favourite games and played some team games. Our PE skills are fantastic.
On Friday we made our own telescopes with different coloured transparent cellophane. We enjoyed seeing what colour things were and what happen when you mixed two or more different coloured cellophane. On Wednesday morning we went up to feed the chickens and guinea pigs. We also picked our first crop of lettuces.  On Wednesday afternoon we played the game of walk the plank. We had great balancing skills.
On Thursday afternoon the children went on a pirate adventure around the school grounds. The children really enjoyed acting out the story. Some children choose to do some gardening, We planted some more lettuce and did some watering and weeding.

This week we are going to start our week with sharing stories about Dads and talking about what special about our Dad's We will be making a few surprises to bring home at the end of the week. On Thursday we have got our beat trip with Reception in the morning and we then be continuing the theme of the seaside with lots of fun activities.
