The Elves and the Shoemaker

Image result for the elves and the shoe maker

Hello everyone,

WOW, what an amazing first week back we have had. During group time we shared our Christmas news with our pre-school friends. It was lovely to hear all about the children's Christmas adventures. The children with their key workers created pictures of their Christmas news and the key workers wrote all their news down. This are up on display in the classroom. We have also enjoyed listening to the story of The Tiger who came to tea, The Gingerbread man and Oi Frog. We have been busy planting onion and garlic sets in our vegetable patch in the wildlife garden. On Tuesday we had PE with Mr Treble. We practiced our ball skills in particular catching a large ball. We are all getting very good at putting our plimsols on by ourselves. We have enjoyed going up to the chickens and guinea pigs to look after them. We have been out on the balance bikes which was great fun. We have also been to soft play and playing games to music. We have also enjoyed playing number bingo.
The children have really enjoyed playing in the wood block area and created variety of structures and models.

This week we will be introducing the story of The elves and the shoemakers. We will be doing this story for the next two weeks. If you have a version of the story please do bring it in. It is great to read different versions and talk about the similarities and differences. We will be designing and making our own shoe, shoe shop role play area, welly throwing and measuring competition, exploring different materials for shoes, shoes for different occupations and lot's more over the next two weeks.
We will also be continuing with our gardening.
