🌞 Preschool Weekly Blog 🌞
We hope you have all had a lovely weekend with family and friends, enjoying the beautiful sunshine! ☀️
Last week, we enjoyed sharing the story I Love My Daddy and talking about all the special things we like to do with our daddies.
Monday
We started the week with some cooking and made delicious flapjacks as a Father's Day surprise. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed making them!
In the afternoon, we got creative making wedding bunting for Sharon's son's wedding and also worked hard on our Father's Day cards.
👵🧀 Tuesday
We had a wonderful morning welcoming our grandparents to preschool for snack time. Together we enjoyed fruit, crackers and cheese before showing our visitors around the classroom and outdoor area. The children were very proud to share their favourite places and activities.
During the afternoon, we continued creating our Father's Day cards and wedding bunting.
⭐🐠 Wednesday
A group of children visited the care home where they enjoyed singing songs, sharing a story and eating cake with the residents. The children loved talking about all the exciting things they have been doing at preschool.
Back at preschool, another group baked flapjacks for Father's Day.
During our Relax Kids session, we went on an imaginative camping adventure, using our imaginations to explore the outdoors.
🤸♀️🏫 Thursday
We began the day with our weekly gym session. To warm up, the children moved in different ways to music and quickly froze when the music stopped.
The children then enjoyed a variety of activities, including:
- Trampolining
- An obstacle course
- Walking along a high balancing beam
- Swinging on bars
- Practising forward rolls
- Learning how to jump and land safely on two feet
We finished with a lively game of the Hokey Cokey and Tappy Sticks.
In the afternoon, some of our children attended a Reception transition session and had a wonderful time exploring their new environment. The remaining children enjoyed outdoor play and activities at preschool.
Friday
We spent the morning enjoying outdoor play and painting the snails we had made the previous week.
In the afternoon, we had a very exciting adventure! We walked to the bus stop and caught a double-decker bus to Weymouth. Once there, we enjoyed playing on the beach, building sandcastles and exploring the seaside. We then visited Rossi's Ice Cream for a delicious treat before catching the bus back to preschool.
🌈 Learning Through Play
Throughout the week, the children explored a wide range of play-based learning opportunities, including:
- Constructing with marble runs, wooden transparent shapes, Zoo Waffle and magnetic Lego
- Strengthening fine motor skills in our Finger Frenzy area with threading pens and boards
- Small world play with our seaside scene
- Water play with underwater creatures, shells and rocks
- Rhyming pairs activities
- Mark making in the sand tray
📚 Read Write Inc.
We have continued learning our phonics sounds and have focused on:
m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k
The children have enjoyed practising these sounds and are becoming increasingly confident at recognising and saying them.
We have also spent time with Fred Frog, who can only say sounds rather than whole words. The children loved playing Fred Talk, listening carefully to sounds and blending them together to make words.
Alongside our phonics sessions, we have continued to enjoy lots of rhyming games, songs and stories throughout the week.
📸 Some Pictures from Our Week
We hope you enjoy looking through the photos and seeing some of the wonderful experiences, learning opportunities and achievements the children have enjoyed this week.
🌼 Looking Ahead
Next week, we will continue exploring our seaside theme. We have lots of exciting activities planned
Alongside these activities, the children will continue to enjoy their regular sessions, including gym, Relax Kids, kickboxing, outdoor play, and many more fun learning experiences with their friends. 😊🌱🏰
