Hello everyone,
We hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. Once again a big thank you for the lovely surprise gift you gave us.
We have enjoyed continuing with the theme of beans this week. Next week we will starting the theme of the seaside which we will be exploring for the next couple of weeks.
We have had an amazing second week back in pre-school.
Here is each groups news of our learning throughout the week.
Group B
On Monday we received a letter from the giant and he had left some footprints around our classroom. The giant left us a letter asking us to measure objects that were shorter and longer than his feet. We had great fun measuring with rulers and tape measures.
Last week the children on Thursday planned that they would like to have a golden egg hunt so on Tuesday we painted some eggs gold with paint and then we went to the forest school area and had a golden egg hunt. Julia hid them first and we found them. We then had a go at hiding them. We had 12 eggs to find but we could only find 10 eggs!! We also enjoyed singing some of our favourite songs.
On Wednesday we made muffin pizzas for snack. We spread the tomato sauce and grated our cheese to go on our pizza's. They were very yummy. The children came up with this idea for snack. We also enjoyed playing a game of number bingo. We had great fun playing with the bubbles and catching them.
On Thursday we received a letter from the giant along with some cooking ingredients and utensils. The eggs were golden eggs and we decided to make some unicorn rainbow cakes. We measured out the ingredients, mixing and cracking an egg. The children knew how 100 was written and could spot it on the scales when we had enough sugar, butter and flour. We really enjoyed decorating our cakes and eating them for snack. We all enjoyed playing the shopping list game. We learnt some sign language in particular zoo animals. Can you remember he different signs?
On Friday we enjoyed playing outside in the garden in the morning. we did some great sweeping up with the brushes and going to the compost heap. We also did some great number problem solving and were amazing at showing our fingers to represent a number.
Throughout the week the children have really enjoyed playing sleeping giants. One person is the giant and the other people have a cone which was golden. When the giant was a sleep we could move towards the cone but when the giant wakes up, you have to freeze. The aim of the game is to get the cones. We have also enjoyed continuing playing the bean game and making up our own beans and actions.
We have all really enjoyed playing with the babies in the water tray with bubbles, toothbrushes, flannels, ducks and jugs. We have been making some great enclosures for the zoo animals with the wood blocks.
We have also been doing lots of Fred talk and the children have made great progress with this.
Group D:
We had a great week exploring Jack and the Beanstalk further. We made a giant from leaves, sticks and flowers found in the forest school area. We painted our own beanstalk using different techniques including, forks, cotton buds sponges and of course our hand prints. On Wednesday we received a special letter from the Giant asking us to help him find his golden eggs stolen by Jack. The letter gave us clues as to where they might be, the children listened very carefully and were great at solving them. We have spent lots of time out and about, enjoying time on the field with frisbee’s and balls and time on the play and trim trails.
We finished the week on Friday by making a chocolate cake. The children decided the week before what they wanted to make and helped the adults to write the shopping list of ingredients. We have had such a lovely week!
