Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a wondeful weekend enjoying the beautiful weather.

Last week we have loved sharing the story of Shark in the park  on a windy day by Nick Sharrat in group time. The children were able to join in with the repeated refrains and do the actions for the positional language of the Timothy's telescope. We compared the difference between the front of the two books. We also learnt about speech bubbles.

On Monday, Thursday and Friday morning the children cooked some shark biscuits to bring home. The children used a variety of tools and cooking skills like mixing, rolling and cutting. We hope they were tasty.

On Monday afternoon we did a science experiment to explore which objects roll and don't roll. We had a great time exploring and finding out.

On Tuesday morning we started making our Christmas cards for Cauliflower cards. More information will follow in the next week about how to order these cards. In the afternoon we played the underwater counting game. Here is a link if you would like to play it at home.- Underwater counting game

On Wednesday morning one group went to the Care home for a sing song, story, Parachute and bubbles along with some yummy cake. Another group of children had PE in the main school hall with Colleen. The children are becoming really indepdent at putting on there own shoes and socks. In the afternoon we had our Relax Kids session with Sian Parsons. The children really enjoyed session.

On Thursday afternoon we carried out a floating and sinking experiment. We found about objects that sink and float and why they float or sink. Some great thinking.

On Friday afternoon we finished off our Christmas Cards and had a lovely time playing outside.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed our vocabluarly tray of objects.  We have enjoyed playing with the small world playmobil park. We have been busy using our real life experiences to play in the role play home corner. On the finger frenzy table we were using spoons to spoon the marbles into the bottles. We have been busy constructing with the duplo, wooden animals bricks, transparent shapes and coloured blocks and pebbles In the number area we have been exploring weighing using scales.

We met Respectful Raya which is one of our Building learning Powers. Here is some information about Respectful Raya:-

This week we will be continuing with Shark in the park but also looking at the version of Shark in the dark and Oh no, shark in the snow. We have a trip to the park this week on Wednesday pm. We will also be exploring torches and shadows and lots more.

Home learning
-A challenge this week with torches, can you make a shadow using your torch? Can you make a shark shadow using your fingers? How can you make your shadows bigger and smaller? We would love to hear about your exploring, so please feel in a WOW and/or take a photo.

-Can you practice your scissors skills and using them with one hand?

-Can you put your practice putting on your own shoes and socks?

It was lovely to see you all at the parent information session. Here is a link to the recording. When you have watched the video please let Julia Know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ1s3k04CzU If you have any questions please do come and ask or email.

On Monday 22nd September we have our story time session at 3.10pm. Please come along to the classroom door at 3.05 and join us for story time.

If you could provide us with a clearly marked water bottle that we can keep at preschool all year. This way we can ensure the children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the days with us. We find the children drink more from their own bottles. Can all drinks bottles be able to be placed in the dishwasher and have no straws.

Every week there will be a blog about everything we have done during the week, what is happening at pre-school in the next week, home learning you may like to do and notices. This is normally published on a Sunday evening.

We place all lunch boxes in the fridge, please label lunch boxes and drinks bottles with your child's name. If you would like to order your child a hot lunch, please speak to a member of staff and Caroline will arrange a hot lunch code for you.

It would great if all pre-school t-shirts and jumpers can be named.

Please bring any WOW's for our WOW board you have and if you need some WOW slips, please pick some up from the notice board outside.
