Hello Everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a wondeful weekend enjoying the beautiful weather.

Last week we have loved sharing the story of Shark in the park  by Nick Sharrat in group time. The children were able to join in with the repeated refrains and do the actions for the positional language of the Timothy's telescope.

On Monday we found out all about Raya the respectful buttefly. We they made our own Raya butterflies to put up on display. We explored colour and mixing colours.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we made sharks with sharp teeth. We used the scissors to cut out sharp triangle teeth. These are on display in the classroom. We used the skills of using scissors with one hand and learning how to snip along a line.

On Wednesday morning a group of children had PE with Colleen and Lauren in theschool hall. We played lots of fun games which involved following an instruction and using our listening ears. We played sleepy pirates and the traffic light game. A group of children walked to the care home at the top of Maiden Castle Rd to sing songs and share a story. We enjoyed some very yummy cakes and had a chat with the residents.

On Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning we made telescopes using cardboard tubes and transparent cellophane. We found out what happened when you looked through the coloured transparent cellophane. We also went on a shark hunt and found a shark in the school pond. We acted out the story of Shark in the park with our telescopes.

On Thursday morning a group of children made cheese on toast for snack. It was very yummy.

On Thursday afternoon we did some Yoga in the hall. We did the cosmic kids yoga of We're going on a bear hunt.

On Friday morning we had a lovely play outside and then in the afternoon we went to the playtrail. We had a great time exploring the play trail. We also had some very special visitors come. We had two little sausage dogs come into preschool and we enjoyed taking them for a walk around the school grounds.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed mark making on the whiteboards.  We have enjoyed playing with the small world playmobil park. We have been busy using our real life experiences to play in the role play home corner. On the finger frenzy table we were using the peg boards to create patterns and practice our pincer grip. We have been busy constructing with the stickle brick, zoo waffle, foam shapesIn the playdough we rolled out the playdough using the rolling pin and used the shape cutters. We decorated our shapes with gems. In the number area we made shape pictures.

We met Respectful Raya which is one of our Building learning Powers. Here is some information about Respectful Raya:-

On Tuesday evening in the Preschool Hall there will be a very important information evening all about Year 2 Preschool. Hope to see lots of you there. I will be sending out a google meet link if you are unable to attend in person tomorrow evening.

If you could provide us with a clearly marked water bottle that we can keep at preschool all year. This way we can ensure the children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the days with us. We find the children drink more from their own bottles. Can all drinks bottles be able to be placed in the dishwasher and have no straws.

Every week there will be a blog about everything we have done during the week, what is happening at pre-school in the next week, home learning you may like to do and notices. This is normally published on a Sunday evening.

We place all lunch boxes in the fridge, please label lunch boxes and drinks bottles with your child's name. If you would like to order your child a hot lunch, please speak to a member of staff and Caroline will arrange a hot lunch code for you.

It would great if all pre-school t-shirts and jumpers can be named.
