Hello everyone....

Hello everyone.....

This week we have enjoyed continuing sharing the story of The Gingerbread Man and are great with joining in with the repeated refrains.

On Monday and Tuesday morning a group of children made gingerbread men in the kitchen. We have used the skills of using one handed tools, rolling out our dough and using a gingerbread cutter to make our shape. They looked very yummy and we hope you enjoyed decorating them. We have loved  seeing some pictures of the decorated gingerbread men. On Monday morning we also had PE and used the Climbing Apparatus in the Pre-school Hall.  Throughout the day we played the gingerbread number game on the interactive whitebard. We had to count his buttons and find the correct numeral. On Monday afternoon we had the challenge of making a bridge using the constrctuion outside. We then had a visit from the gingerbread man. It was great fun and very exciting.

On Tuesday morning we had our first Kickboxing session which we all really enjoyed. We went on an adventure as monkeys to rescue the golden bananas. In the afternoon we discovered a gingerbread man had escaped from the oven and left clues for us. We went on a hunt for him and drew Wanted pictures. We discovered him in Mr Spracklens chair. It was magical watching the children and they came up with some amazing ideas.

On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the care home for a sing song, story and cake. We had a lovely time talking to the residents about the gingerbread man. Another group of children had PE in the pre-school hall and used the climbing appartus. We are becoming more confident at climbing. Throughout the day we worked in small groups creating story maps of the Gingerbread Man story. We retold the story and Lauren scribed for us, we then drew pictures from the story. These are up on display in the classroom. In the afternoon we had Relax kids. We had a great relaxation session. Can you show your families the relaxtion/breathing using your fingers?

On Thursday we used the computer programme Purple Mash to colour in some gingerbread men. These are on display in the classroom. We also did some junk modelling to make a gingerbread house using a variety of materials, tools and techniques to joing things together. In small groups we went to soft play.

On Friday we continued with our junk modelling and enjoyed playing outside.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the Knex, toolo, octagons and wooden transparent shapes, coloured pebbles and arches.  In the number area we have been matching the correct number links to the numeral elephant.  We have enjoyed marking making  on the gingerbread men outlines. We have also enjoyed using the playdough to cut out gingerbread men using a variety of tools and materials including gems, buttons and pom poms. In the small world area we have been busy using the puppet theatre to retell the story of the Gingerbread man using the puppets. The children are amazing with the repeated refrains of the story.  On our finger frenzy table this week we have been popping bubble wrap. Along with the peg boards. In the water tray we have been bathing and caring for the babies.

Throughout the week we have begun to learn the Read Write inc picture names in group time.  We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories.
