Hello everyone.....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend with your families and friends.

Last week we enjoyed listening to the story of Owl babies at group time. We were great at joining in with the repeated refrains. We also enjoyed meeting Sabrina who bought in the hedgehogs she rescues. We asked some great questions to find things out.

On Monday we used the computers and Purple Mash to colour in an Owl babies picture. We learnt how to move the mouse around on the screen and how to change colour. In the afternoon we played bingo in small groups. We had to find the matching quantity from the given number. At group time we talked about Odd sock Day and how we are all different but all very special. On Tuesday morning a group of children  did a science experiment of how to melt chocolate. We made them into breadstick sparklers. On Wednesday morning a group of children had PE with Colleen and Lauren. We used some equipment to practice jumping off and landing on two feet, balancing and climbing over and under. Another group went to the care home for a sing song and a yummy chocolate breadstick sparkles which we made at preschool to share with the residents. In the afternoon we made clay hedgehogs and learnt how to mould the clay and how to use diffrent tools and techniques to create the features of a hedgehog. We also found a hedgehog outside by the road which we rescued and enjoyed looking at.  On Thursday we worked with friends to create marks on large paper whilst listening to music. We also played some party games including musical statues and musical chairs. On Friday it was Children in Need day and we learnt all about how the money we give helps other children. We also made spotty Numicon biscuits to bring home. In the afternoon we had basket ball with Coach Luca and we practiced our shooting skills. Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with mega blocks , zoo waffle, transparent shapes and wooden pebbles with plastic number elephants. Our finger frenzy this week has been using the spinning tops.We have been mark making on the perspex screen with paint and cotton buds.  On the number table this week we have had hedgehogs and pegs. We have put the correct number of spikes on each one. On the small world table we had the owl babies with logs and leaves and the story. We also created owl nests using wooden logs, feathers, conkers and other things. We also had a tray of sand with hidden metal objects to discover using the metal detectors.   In our role play are we have been playing with the woodland and campfire scene along with the tent. We have been exploring rhyming throughout the week at group time with a variety of fun games and stories. Also we continue to talk about Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. Every day this week we have been doing Healthy Movers which is a great programme to develop children's physical skills. Please see below for some home learning to support this.
