Hello everyone.....

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend with your families and friends.

Last week we had a great week exploring fireworks through a variety of activities. We learnt some new bonfire and fireworks songs. At group time we talked about fireworks e.g. sounds, colours etc.

On Monday we used paint and different tools to explore different techniques in creating our own firework picture. We used toilet rolls, forks and cotton bud tips.  In the afternoon we did a science experiment using oil, water and food colouring in a jar. We put water in a jar and added coloured oil using pipettes to the water and observed what happened. On Tuesday we made our names into rockets. We used the skill of recognising our name, recognising a triangle shape and using our fine motor skills to peel the star stickers off to put on our picture. On Wednesday morning a group of children had PE with Colleen and Lauren. We used some equipment to practice jumping off and landing on two feet, balancing and climbing over and under. Another group went to the care home for a sing song and a yummy chocolate biscuits. The children are becoming more confident with talking to the residents. On Wednesday and Friday morning we did a science experiment of how to melt chocolate. We made them into breadstick sparklers.  On Wednesday afternoon we made rockets which took off by blowing through a straw. On Thursday morning we had a great time visiting the woods. We had a lovely walk through the woods and then played on the broomstick, flying down the hills, climbing and balancing on trees and hide and seek. On Friday we talked about Remembrance Day and watched the CBeebies poppies video. We made poppies to bring home.Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with stickle bricks, zoo waffle and wooden bricks. Our finger frenzy this week has been using weaving pens and boards. We made all sorts of patterns and shapes using the threads and board.  We have been mark making in the glitter tray.  On the number table this week we have had numicon pieces locked up with padlock and numeral keys to unlock them. On the small world table for had a bonfire small world scene with wooden people. On the playdough table we had lollipop sticks, pom poms and pipe cleaners to make fireworks.  In our role play are we have been playing with the woodland and campfire scene along with the tent.

We have been exploring rhyming throughout the week at group time with a variety of fun games and stories. Also we continue to talk about Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. Every day this week we have been doing Healthy Movers which is a great programme to develop children's physical skills. Please see below for some home learning to support this.

Here are some pictures from this week...

For the next two weeks we are going to be exploring owls, spiders and hedgehogs through a variety of activities, stories, information books and visitors.  We will be starting with owls and sharing the story of Owl babies.
