Hi everyone,
We hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
Last week during group time we have enjoyed sharing lots of dinosaur stories.
On Monday we were busy gardening and we planted some tomatoes and kale plants in the polytunnel.
On Tuesday morning we had PE with Mr Treble and we played hide and seek. We then had the challenge of finding the cones in the trees. We were amazing at climbing the trees. We then played on the play trail and the yellow slide. In the afternoon we made dinosaur fossil biscuits to bring home. They looked very yummy.
OnWednesday morning another group of children made dinosaur fossil biscuits. In the afternoon we prepared for our science experiment. We made dinosaur eggs with food colouring, bicarbonate of soda and water along with a dinosaur to hide in the mixture. We put our eggs in the freezer.
On Thursday morning it was lovely to have all our grandparents for snack. We really enjoyed meeting everyone' grandparents and sharing with them all the things we do at pre-school. In the afternoon we got our dinosaur eggs out the freezer and used a pipette to squirt vinegar on them. The vinegar made the dinosaur appear. It was a great science experiment. We also enjoyed eating our snack outside on the log and sharing a story.
On Friday we did some more planting in the garden. We planted some cucumber, courgette and pumpkin seeds. We also watered all our plants and did some weeding.
Throughout the week we have really enjoyed rescuing the dinosaurs for the wool using scissors. A great opportunity to practice our scissor skills. There has been some amazing mark making on the tin foil using whiteboard pens. The children have really enjoyed marking making the sounds we have been learning. We have also been giving the dinosaurs the correct number of spikes in the number area along with using the nets in the water tray to catch the numbers, numicon and gems. We have been making dinosaur fossils using playdough and dinosaur skeletons. We have been making some great models with the magnetic shapes and stickle bricks.
In our Read write Inc groups with have been learning the following sounds:-
Julia's and Karen's group- m,a,s,d,t,i,n,p
Lauren's group- m,a,s,d,t,i
Sharon and Colleen's group- m,a,s,d
Here are some Read write inc videos to support the letter sounds above:
