Hello everyone,
We hope you are all having a wonderful weekend in the beautiful sunshine. In preparation for next week here is some useful information to support our families emerging from lockdown and returning to pre-school.
We posted a virtual tour video which is on the school's Facebook page and YouTube page. The video gives you information about entrance, exits, classroom and outdoor space.
We welcome children to ride their bikes and scooters to school and we have a scooter/bike park just inside the silver entrance gate. Bikes and scooters can be left here all day and picked up at your allotted time at pick up.
The weather is looking very sunny for the next few weeks. Please can children bring a sun hat and suncream applied before coming to preschool. Each outdoor space has shade either from the tree's or a gazebo. We will encourage the children to take regular drinks throughout the day.
Due to not being at pre-school for the last 3 months if you child would like to bring their self soothing transitional object they are very welcome too.
Outside of each of the groups drop off and pick up doors is a green crate. Lunchboxes and children's bags can be placed inside this in the morning. We have also put their changing bags in there. It would be great if you could bring a full set of clothes on the first day to put in the bags as I expect some of the clothes currently in there may be too small or are winter clothes.
Children will be regularly encouraged to wash their hands throughout the day.
We will be using Marvelous Me to regularly send pictures and wows of your children enjoying pre-school and their learning. If you need your login details for this, please email Caroline at preschoolparents@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk. We will also continue to use our weekly blog which will be full of information about what each group has been doing and what they are planning to do next. This will be blogged on a Sunday evening.
This week across the four groups we are going to be settling back into pre-school and having the theme of BEANS. We will be reading the story of Jack and the beanstalk and doing a variety of activities including planting beans, bean game and lots more.
We will continue with daily pre-school routines within the classroom environment e.g. snacks, lunch, group time and adult and child initiated activities.
Each group has got a designated outside space with a variety of resources. We will also be accessing the rest of school grounds on a regularly weekly basis e.g. school field, forest school area etc.
To support our families who remain at home during this time we will continue to support you throughout this time with regular weekly phone calls, resources packs and weekly challenges on the blog. On Wednesday evening we will be delivering some home learning resources for the next 3 weeks. These learning resources will be using the same theme as we are in pre-school.
We are really looking forward to welcoming you back into pre-school. We understand it could be an unsettling time for the children and yourselves. We are here to support you with this transition. please feel free to email or phone me if you have any questions throughout this time.
See you all soon
Julia and Pre-school team.
