Hello everyone....

Hello everyone.......

We hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.

Last week we really enjoyed listening to the Apple tree farm stories along with the Scarecrows Wedding at group time.  On Monday morning in small groups we went to look at the big green tractor outside school and used lots of vocabulary to describe it. You can see our ideas in the picture below. In the afternoon we did some wheel printing with paint. On Tuesday we did some threading using wool and a needle. This supported our fine motor skills and the life cycle of an egg. We talked about what we can cook with eggs. On Wednesday we had PE with Mr Treble and we played lots of games which involved negotiating spaces and moving in different ways. We played follow the line, stuck in the mud and can you move like a monkey, snake etc. In the afternoon we did an experiment with eggs and hard boiled eggs. We experimented with wrapping the eggs in different materials and dropping them from the climbing frame. We had a go at predicting what might happen and then observing what happened.
For snack we tried hard boiled eggs.
On Thursday we did some vegetable printing. We talked about the different types of vegetable and where they grow e.g under the ground, on a tree etc.
On Friday afternoon we had a visitor come to pre-school and talked about their Islam religion. We learnt lots of facts and looked at some Islamic materials.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed the finger frenzy table with peg boards. We have used our pincer grip to pick up the pegs and put them in the wholes. We have continued to enjoy exploring the scales in the number area. We have been very creative building models with duplo. We have been busy mark making using our finger in the oats. We have been exploring the torches with different materials including coloured transparent film. We have been talking about what we have observed shinning the torch through the different materials. We have be constructing with the plastic straws and zoo waffle. On the small world table we have been playing with the allotment scene and sharing our knowledge of growing vegetables. In the playdough we have been making tracks with the tractors, using the animal cutters and making fields for the plastic animals. We continue to meet Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. He is one of learning powers which encourage us to keep on trying. He enjoys celebrating our resilience with us. Harold the Giraffe has been talking about how we are all special.

We are going to continue to explore food, faith and farming. We are going to be sharing lots of stories about this topic at group time. We have got some visitors coming into preschool. We will be cooking some yummy foods using eggs. At snack time we will have a variety of foods to eat and will be talking about where each of the foods come. We have got our trip to the farm on Monday afternoon. Along with lots of other activities to support our learning.

Hello everyone...

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a great weekend enjoying the sunshine.

Last week we enjoyed listening to the different variations of Shark in the Park. We listened to Shark in the dark and Oh no, Shark in the snow. We were great at joining in with the repeated refrains. On Tuesday we played the underwater counting game on the interactive tv. Here is a link if you would like to play it home Counting underwater game. In the afternoon and on Wednesday we had great fun exploring and experimenting using the torches in a dark room. We made shark shadows along with other shadows. We talked about what we saw and did. On Wednesday afternoon  and Friday morning we went to the park and had great fun exploring all the playground equipment. We did lots of swinging, sliding, climbing and balancing. On Thursday morning we made a large cardboard shark mouth which we had great fun painting as a team. When it was dried we practiced throwing balls through the sharks mouth. In the afternoon we also made some shark sandwiches which involved using a knife to spread the butter and jam. Throughout the week we have enjoyed exploring the scales using cubes and wooden blocks. We have experimented with what happens when you put different amounts in and used the language of heavier, lighter and balanced. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been practicing our scissors skills. We have been learning to use them one handed. We cut up strips of paper and followed the lines to the animals and vehicles. From the story of Oh no, shark in the snow we had a small world scene of the story. We played alongside others acting out the story. We have been very creative building models with duplo and transparent blocks. We have been busy mark making using our finger in the blue grit, shaving foam and cornflour. In the water tray we have been catching the ducks with nets and counting how many we have caught. We have been building train tracks and testing our tracks out with the trains.

We continue to meet Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. He is one of learning powers which encourage us to keep on trying. He enjoys celebrating our resilience with us.
