Hello everyone,

Last week we had great fun exploring colours and talking about bonfires and fireworks. On Monday morning we listened to a firework poem which we all joined in with. For our snack we all went to the roundhouse area and had a real bonfire with hot dogs for snack. We all then had a go at toasting our marshmallows on the fire and then making a biscuit marshmallow sandwich. They were very yummy. Reception and pre-school year 1 joined us.  We all had a wonderful time.
We have also been making our rocket names. We had to find our name and then we made it into a rocket. We counted how many letters are in our name.
We have had great fun exploring colour, colour mixing and different paint techniques whilst creating our firework paintings. We also used chalks to create firework pictures. Also we created our bonfire pictures using sticks and coloured cellophane. We have also been making chocolate sparkles in the kitchen. We predicted what might happen when you heat up chocolate and then carried out our experiment. They looked very yummy.
On Thursday afternoon we went to the music room at school and explored all the different musical instruments and the sounds they make. We had a go at making our own firework music.
On Friday morning we went and watched Reception assembly which we all enjoyed. We did some great listening. On Friday afternoon we played shape bingo which was great fun.

For the next two weeks we will be doing lots of shapes activities including playing games, shape hunt, chaperons craft activities, cooking and lots more. We will be looking at 2d and 3d shapes.

Hello everyone,

Wow, what a great first week back we have had. We started our week by reading the story of Pumpkin Soup by Helen Copper. On Tuesday the children took the wheelbarrows up to the poly tunnel and collected the 7 different sized pumpkins. They really enjoyed this job. In the afternoon the children helped to scoop out the pumpkin and design different faces on them. The children practiced their spoon and knife skills. They talked about the textures they could feel. On Tuesday morning we had Mr Treble for PE and we did lots of games which involved negotiating spaces. We are getting really good at putting on our plimsols. On Wednesday morning the children helped to make pumpkin soup which they really enjoyed. On Wednesday afternoon we went to the chickens and gave them the excess pumpkins which the chickens loved. All the leaves had come off the tree's so we had a great afternoon throwing piles of leaves up into the air and rolling in big piles of leaves. On Thursday we had our NSPCC PANTS Day. We got to meet Pantasarus the dinosaur and watch the NSPCC PANTS video. We then designed our own pants.
On Thursday afternoon we went to the play trail and then played some ring games in the hall.
On Friday some children went to watch Year 3 Assembly which they really enjoyed and did some great listening. On Friday afternoon the children made their own potions. This idea came from the children from our rhyming soup potion game.

This week we will be talking about bonfires and fireworks. We will be exploring and talking about colours, mixing colours and sounds of fireworks. We will be creating our own firework pictures using different techniques and mixing colour. We will be making our own music to represent fireworks.  We are going to be experimenting with chocolate and making edible sparkles. Also we we will be making our own name rockets and decorating the letters of our name in stars. Its going to be a very exciting week.

Hello everyone,

We all hope you had a lovely half term. What beautiful weather we had. We looking forward to hearing about all the children's adventures during group time this week.
This week we will be sharing the story of Pumpkin soup along with some other pumpkins stories. This book is all about some animals sharing and taking turns to cook pumpkin soup. We will also be singing some pumpkin and spider songs this week. We will also be making pumpkin soup when we harvest our pumpkins from the poly tunnel. The children will be collecting the pumpkins in their wheelbarrows. We will be exploring what's inside the pumpkin and using different tools to scoop the inside out and cutting it up. On Thursday we are having a PANTS day. The children can wear their pants over their clothes if they wish. It is to promote awareness of saying ‘no’ and what’s in your pants belongs to you. During the day we will be doing some creative craft activities and showing the official NSPCC video.
It's going to be another fantastic week.

Autumn and hedgehogs

Hello everyone,

Last week we started our week off talking about what we knew about Autumn. The children talk about some of the changes that happen in Autumn. They were very keen to find out about hedgehogs. We shared some autumn poems, stories and songs. We read the story of we're going on a leaf hunt and afterwards we went on a leaf hunt around the school grounds finding different coloured leaves. We have enjoyed creating our own textured leaves with cellophane, tissue paper and using cotton buds and Autumn coloured paints. We have begun making our Kind hands poster and talking about how we can be kind at school, home and play. We had a great gym session on Tuesday morning playing fruit salad, moving in different ways and jumping from hoop to hoop. We are getting really good at putting our own shoes on. We have been looking after the chickens and guinea pigs. We bought the guinea pigs down to the playground for some lap time. The children really enjoyed this. We have been playing number bingo in small groups on Thursday afternoon and went and played in soft play. We have also been looking at our learning journeys with our key workers and have been talking about what we have enjoyed doing this term, what we have learnt to do and what we like to do next. These are on display in the classroom near the construction area.

This week we will continue our learning about Autumn and hedgehogs through some different activities including a hedgehog number game, a trip to the woods on Thursday with Reception and lots more fun activities, stories and songs.
We will also be making our Christmas cards to send of to the publisher. You will be able to order these. More information to follow on how to order them soon. This is organised by POWSA.
We will also be finishing of our kind hands poster.
