Hello everyone......

Hello everyone.....

We hope you have all had a wonderful weekend in the beautiful sunshine.

On Monday we had PE in the main school hall and practiced our balls skills using our hands and a bat. We also practiced our throwing skills with throwing the beanbag into the hoop. We learnt about under arm and over arm throwing. We used the bats to dribble the balls around. We also used Purple Mash on the computer to create a picture of ourselves dressed as a person who help us. We talked about what the person did in their role. These are up in classroom 2.

On Tuesday we had our kickboxing session and we went on a monkey adventure which involved moving in a variety of ways. We practiced our guard and stance. We also practiced our jumping with two feet over the line. We practiced our foot work. We had a special visit from Elsie's Dad who is a postman. He bought his postvan into preschool for us to look at. We saw lots of parcels and letters. We also used Purple Mash on the computer to create a picture of ourselves dressed as a person who help us. We talked about what the person did in their role. These are up in classroom 2.

On Wednesday morning a group of children visited the local care home for a singsong, story and cake. The other group of children had PE in the school hall and practiced our balls skills using our hands and a bat. We also practiced our throwing skills with throwing the beanbag into the hoop. We learnt about under arm and over arm throwing. We used the bats to dribble the balls around. In the afternoon we had Relax kids.

On Thursday morning we had a special visit from Martha's Daddy who is a Doctor. He bought lots of his equipment for us to look at and also read us a story of Topsy and Tim go to the doctors.

On Friday it was Red Nose Day and we all came to school dressed in Red. We talked about what red nose day was about at group time. We made pizza's with funny faces on to bring home. We hope the children enjoyed them.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the small plastic bricks, magnetic lego, balancing tree. In the number area  we have been exploring numerals and threading them onto a string. We have also enjoyed exploring the baby lotion with cotton budds. In the small world area we have been playing with the princesses, fairies, princes and castle. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been  playing with the geo boards and elastic bands. We made lots of diffrent shapes. We have enjoyed mark making using chalk and black paper and the whiteboards and pens. We have really enjoyed playing outside in the beautiful sunshine.

We have now learnt all the Read Write Inc pictures and we are now focusing on Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have been playing lots of games with Fred. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories.

During group time this week we talked about Reggie the Resilient tortoise friend Rose the Resourceful Spider.

How can you help your children establish Resourcefulness at home?

Resourcefulness is all about being an independent and imaginative learner, being ready to learn in
different ways and using all of the resources available to help you. The skills for life long learning
that we are aiming to instil are those of
Questioning - being curious, going deeper; Making
Links
- looking for ideas and concepts that connect together and are meaningful; Imagining - using your minds eye to help you learn; Reasoning - thinking methodically and Capitalising - making the best of resources available.

You can do this through play and day to day activities at home by:

Encourage questions.
Demonstrate making links between different ideas.
Keep imagination alive and celebrate and value a love of adventure. Help children to find ways of using resources such as reference books, dictionaries, the Internet.

Some pictures from the week..

For the next week we are going to continue to explore people who help us along with our parents/carers jobs. We would love it if you would like to come in and talk about your job. We have lots of lovely activities planned to support the above. Also this week we will be talking about Mother's Day and how special our mums are. We will be making a surprise to bring home on Thursday or Friday.
