Hello everyone...

 Hello everyone,

Welcome back to the new school year with lots of fun and exciting exploring and learning. We have had a great first week back at Pre-school and the children have settled in really well. Over the week we have been exploring our new classroom through play and learning the routines of the day. It has been lovely getting to know the children and we are very excited for the year ahead.  

Throughout the week we have been painting our self portraits for our classroom display. We have been looking in the mirror and looking at the diffrent facial body parts and then we painted our self portraits. On Wednesday morning a group of children walked to the local care home for a singsong, story and cake. We had a lovely time. In the afternoon we had Relax Kids with Sian. We had a lovely session. Throughout the week we have been listening to a variety of stories at group time and singing our favourite songs. We have also enjoyed playing outside. We have been talking about Choosing Kindness. Can you child tell you abut this? 

- I can show kindness through gesture (smiling)

- I am kind to my friends

- I can share resources with others

- I can be friendly towards others

This week we will continue focusing on settling back into Preschool in Year 2 and  it will be a time for the children, us and yourselves to get to know us. We will be having lots of fun playing and exploring together. We will be finding out about Raya the Respectful butterfly. We will be playing some games involving taking turns. We will also be sharing the story of Shark in the park towards the end of the week and have lots of exciting activities planned.

The adults who will be working within the Year 2 classroom is myself, Colleen, Lauren and Lauren. 

Home learning

- Can you put your own shoes and socks on by yourself?

-Can you pull up and pull down your own trousers and pants when using the toilet?

-Can you play a game at home with your family members, taking turns?

Notices

On Monday 14th September we have our story time session at 3.10pm. Please come along to the classroom door at 3.05 and join us for story time.

 If you could provide us with a clearly marked water bottle that we can keep at preschool all year. This way we can ensure the children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the days with us. We find the children drink more from their own bottles. Can all drinks bottles be able to be placed in the dishwasher and have no straws.

Every week there will be a blog about everything we have done during the week, what is happening at pre-school in the next week, home learning you may like to do and notices. This is normally published on a Sunday evening.

We place all lunch boxes in the fridge, please label lunch boxes and drinks bottles with your child's name. If you would like to order your child a hot lunch, please speak to a member of staff and Caroline will arrange a hot lunch code for you. 

It would great if all pre-school t-shirts and jumpers can be named.

I will be doing an information session about what we do in Year 2  on Thursday 17th  September at 7.30pm online. We will be talking about book bags, changing bags, Keyworkers, SCARF, Sounds and Letters,EYFS, trips, swimming etc. Hope to see lots of you there, as there will be lots of useful information to support your child. 

Please bring any WOW's for our WOW board you have and if you need some WOW slips, please pick some up from the notice board outside.

Applying for Reception Place to start in September 2027

You can apply for a reception place from 1 September 2026.

The closing date for applications is 15 January 2027.

The Prince of Wales School have an open morning on Wednesday 14th October at 9.15am. 

Damers First school have an open morning on Wednesday 30th September at 9.30am and Tuesday 13th October at 6.o0pm.
