Hi Everyone,
We hope you have all had a wonderful May Bank Holiday weekend with your friends and family. It's lovely to see some sunshine.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed sharing the story of The tiger who came to tea. On Monday and Wednesday we created our own tigers using a card and tissue paper. On Monday afternoon we had great fun playing hide and seek with the a plastic tiger. When the children were close to the tiger we said they were warmer and when they were not near the tiger we said they were cold. It was great fun.
On Tuesday morning we visited The Tiger who came to tea exhibition at Shire Hall. We all loved our mini bus ride there. During the morning we explored the exhibition which involved having tea with a tiger, dressing up, craft activities, sharing the story and making the puzzle. Also we had a scavenger hunt around Shire hall to find all the different foods and cans of tiger food. We ticked them off on our list. We all loved exploring the old court room and trying a variety of hats on. In the afternoon we recalled our trip which is displayed on our poster.
On Wednesday a group of children visited the care home and had a lovely time singing songs. Another group had PE with Mr Treble outside on the field. They practiced their climbing skills in the trees and using sticks to catch the cones in the trees. On Thursday and Friday morning we created our own tigers using Purple Mash on the computer. On Thursday afternoon we made tiger masks and had a visit to soft play due to the heavy rain. On Friday afternoon we had great fun on the playtrail. We have really enjoyed playing outside this week in the sunshine.
We have enjoyed constructing with the lego, magnetic shapes with plastic teddies and wooden marble run. In the number area we have been exploring groups of objects and adding two groups together. We have been mark making with paint under cling film. We loved exploring mixing colours. We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools, black stripes and googly eyes to make tigers. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been threading beads onto pipe cleaners to make hair for the faces. On the small world table we have been playing small world scene of The tiger who came to tea. In the water tray we have been exploring tea pouring using cups, sieves, tea and tea pots. In our role play we have had a home corner with a rather large Tiger.
We have met the Courteous caterpillar and he has been looking out for all the courteous things we have been doing.
We have met reni the Renee Reciprocal Bee who is all about team work.
How can you help your children establish Reciprocity at home? Reciprocity is all about give and take, the fundamental skills for life long learning that we are aiming to instil are those of Interdependence - balancing independence and sociability;
Collaboration - the skills of learning with others; Empathy - thinking about others’ points of view and feelings; Listening - it’s more than just hearing and Imitation - picking up others’ habits and values. You can do this through play and day to day activities at home by: •Demonstrating/modelling being a good learner. •Work, play and learn alongside your children, enabling them to pick up good habits through imitation. •Make expectations of turn-taking and cooperation clear.
