Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend with family and friends. It's lovely to see some sunshine and lighter evenings. Great to see you at Spring fest on Friday evening.

Last week we settled back into pre-school after the Easter holidays. It was lovely to hear and see photos of the children's adventures. We shared these at group time. On Monday and Wednesday we recalled our Easter holiday news and drew a picture of our adventures. On Tuesday morning we visited Maiden Castle Farm. We were amazing at walking all the way there and back again to pre-school with lots of stamping in mud puddles. At farm we learnt all about Springtime on the farm. We saw sheep and lambs, pigs, chickens, horses and cows. We collected the eggs from the chickens. We saw all the different farm machinery and learnt what each piece did. We had our snack in the farm classroom. It was great fun. On Tuesday afternoon we met Harold the giraffe. He taught us all about the different parts of our body and the job they do.  We learnt how to look after our body and helped Harold to look after himself through washing him, brushing his teeth and brushing his hair. We sang head, shoulders, knees and toes. The children had lots of great facts that they already knew to share with Harold.  On Wednesday a group of children visited the care home and had a lovely time singing farming songs. Another group had PE with Mr Treble outside on the field. They practiced their climbing skills in the trees and using sticks to catch the cones in the trees. Also they loved a game of toilet tag!! On Thursday we had a surprise visit from Chloe with baby Sophia. We all loved looking at how much Sophia has grown.  We have really enjoyed playing outside this week in the sunshine. On Friday we went to soft play and also decorated biscuits for snack.

We have enjoyed constructing with the lego, magnetic shapes and wooden marble run. In the number area we have been exploring the Numicon pieces and creating towers. We learnt how to make numbers in different ways e.g. 4 can be made using a 3 and 1 piece of numicon. We have been finding the initial sounds of the pictures and putting them in the correct sound pot.  We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools, shape cutters, feathers, buttons and gems. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been using the the hole punches. On the small world table we have been playing with the the fairies and woodland scene.

We have  met the caring caterpillar and he has been looking out for all the caring things we have been doing.

We have met reni the Renee Reciprocal Bee who is all about team work.

How can you help your children establish Reciprocity at home? Reciprocity is all about give and take, the fundamental skills for life long learning that we are aiming to instil are those of Interdependence - balancing independence and sociability;

Collaboration - the skills of learning with others; Empathy - thinking about others’ points of view and feelings; Listening - it’s more than just hearing and Imitation - picking up others’ habits and values. You can do this through play and day to day activities at home by: •Demonstrating/modelling being a good learner. •Work, play and learn alongside your children, enabling them to pick up good habits through imitation. •Make expectations of turn-taking and cooperation clear.

In our Read write Inc groups with have been learning the following sounds:
Julia's, Colleen and Lauren's group- m,a,s,d,t, i, n
Sharon's- Picture names and rhyming

Here are some Read write inc videos to support the letter sounds above:
