Harvest

Hello everyone,
Last week the children have been enjoying autumn crafts ready to display in the school hall for harvest festival. We will continue with those this week whilst we make some treats for the harvest cafe at school, as well as a 'showstopper' for the harvest festival.

PLEASE don't forget your harvest donations of produce. the children really enjoy making parcels and packets to sell. please bring them in by Thursday.

This coming week we will talk about harvest and what it is, farms, food and tractors.

JIGSAW.  last week we talked about kind hands and made a poster with the children's thoughts about all the things kind, gentle hands can do. This week with the children we will be making a set of golden rules, that is the way the children think we should all behave in our pre school. We can refer to this in the future!

Some of the children have been taking part in activities using the i pad, some parents have asked if all the children will be able to have a go. Of course we make sure all the children experience these lovely opportunities. However to let each child enjoy the experience takes time, so these things may often take a half term to get through everyone.

SOUNDS AND LETTERS. we continue on from last week with our listening activities.

The children are getting so good at finding shapes in the environment, continue to do this at home in the kitchen, the lounge, the garden, toys, books shopping. shapes are everywhere. (don't forget WOWS)

Library books

Hi Everyone,
Please bear with us whilst we make sure everyone gets their library bag and book.
I appreciate some children have not had a book but rest assured they are on the way.
We like to take our time when choosing a book with your child, discussing the library, what they would like and sometimes searching for the right book.

The children are all exploring shapes outside in the environment this week. When you are out and about why not look and see what shapes you can see.

shapes and harvest

Hello Everyone,
We had a good week last week, with lots of learning and exploring around shapes, music, singing and rhymes.

This coming week we will be looking at shapes in the environment, getting out and about in the school grounds, looking for different shapes and taking photos of what we find on the i pad. The children can also do some shape rubbing outside as well.

We will also be starting our topic about Harvest, celebrating Harvest festival with school the following week.
The children will also be able to enjoy some crafts to decorate the school hall for the harvest celebrations.

JIGSAW this week we will be talking about kind hands and kind words. Remembering how important these things are when playing with friends.

SOUNDS AND LETTERS We had great fun last week using our bodies to make sounds, with all the children trying hard to thing of something different. We will be continuing with this and with listening activities as well.

DON'T FORGET if you haven't had time to bring in a shape picture perhaps you could this week.

Don't forget!!

With the children we are making a shapes display.
Please don't forget to look for a shape picture with your child from a book , magazine, photograph etc. For example tyres-circles, books-squares and rectangles, or perhaps food shapes such as a slice of bread-square. Look with your child and  see if they can find anything. Then bring it in to pre school.

We have been playing a shape game where I ask who can see something in the room that is a.... (say the shape) ? the children look around the room and tell us what they can see. great fun to play at home. If you do why not fill in a WOW and tell us what shapes your child could see.

Don't forget the picture!!

shapes.

Hello everyone,
This past week we have been doing lots of talking and listening activities, music, enjoying rhymes and singing, joining in repeating refrains in stories and listening to sounds.
Jigsaw
This coming week our focus will be on our pre school playrooms, looking after our space, and keeping tidy.

Shapes.
Last week the children did some shape printing, and we continue the focus this week playing shape games, puzzles, activities and books. We are going to make a shape poster, so why not look at pictures in magazines, papers etc and bring in a picture of some thing that your child has recognised the shape of, for example, car tyres-circle, houses- square, boxes-rectangles, sliced bread-square. Or take a photo of something your child has seen and bring that in.

Sounds and letters.
Listening to sounds then guessing what it may be. Good listening !

A good time was had by all at the bingo on Friday evening, if you were not able to come please try next time, the children love it.
Don't forget stay and play starts tomorrow.

Sunday, 13 September 2015

Hello Everyone,
I do hope you will all be able to come to the pre school information session on Tuesday morning. Hope to see you there ! if not I will be letting you know by blog what we talked about.

This week we continue our theme from the first part of the JISAW topic who am I? and what do I like? The children have been telling me their favourites,  and we have been choosing those  books and activities to enjoy.
They have also been painting pictures of themselves.
This coming  week we are also talking about being happy or sad, we are going to look at pictures of children with happy or sad faces, and talk about them.
At home why not talk about what makes you happy or sad.

Last week we started reading stories and singing songs with repeated refrains. I am sure you have books at home that you read time and time again, so why not leave off the last word for your child to say.
The children did very well with this activity last week.
We also played a game listening to instruments we couldn't see and guessing what they were. lots of fun!!!

The children will also continue sticking their WOW 's in their learning journey's and having a go at writing their names.
Everyone has settled down really well after the summer break, and we enjoyed a great  week last week.
