Hello everyone.....


Hello everyone.....

We hope you have all had a great weekend with your family and friends in the beautiful sunshine.

This week we have been learning about our home country of England and maps. We have also been looking at the English currency. 

On Monday morning we made a victoria sponge cake to take to the care home for Wednesday. We learnt that this a traditional cake for our home country. We created our own United Kingdom flags. A group of children had PE and practiced 6 different races for sports day.  In the afternoon we looked at a local map of Dorchester and found out where we lived in Dorchester compared to pre-school and our friends. We also learnt all about maps. We also drew a map of the school grounds in groups and hid treasure at x marks the spot. Other groups used our maps to find the treasure. 

On Tuesday we had kickboxing and we watch a demonstration by Ma and Sir. We helped them warm up by giving them instructions of how to warm up. We really enjoyed the demonstration. A group of children finished off the victoria sponge cake by ending jam and butter cream to the middle of the cake. We looked at a local map of Dorchester and found out where we lived in Dorchester compared to pre-school and our friends. We also learnt all about maps. In the afternoon a group of children went to the care home at Poundbury for a sing song, stories and snack. We also got to meet their guinea pigs. The other children built london bridge and big ben in the school hall using a variety of construction. 

On Wednesday morning a group of children went to the care home for a sing song, story and ate our yummy victoria sponge cake. Another group of children had PE and practiced the 6 races for Sports Day. We also made scones for our cream tea party in the afternoon and created a invitation for Mr Spracklen and Mr Bascombe to come for afternoon tea. We delivered our invitation, decorated the hall and prepared the afternoon tea. We had scones with jam and cream, strawberries and tea. We were all amazing at trying something new. 

On Thursday talked about our favourite sandwiches and made them for snack. We had a choice of egg, cheese, ham and butter. They were delicious. In the afternoon we had a play on the playtrail and the big yellow slide. 

On Friday we made pizza's for snack and a great time playing outside in the sunshine.   

Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the playmobilo, magnetic shapes, toolo and magnetic lego.  In the number area we have been finding the different coins in the sand and sorting them into groups. we have been finding the rhyming pairs, we are fab at this. We have also enjoyed making pretend cups of tea. In the small world area we have been playing with the forest friends Duplo. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been making towers and balancing marbles. We have been making cakes using playdough, gems, candles, numbers. We have had the Happy Land out on the floor in room 2. We have a shop as a role play area this half term.

This week we will be travelling to France and making a Father's Day surprise to bring home at the end of the week.

On Monday we are going to be daubing the new roundhouse. Please can children bring in their wellies and be wearing old clothes. 

On Wednesday we have Stay and play from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone welcome.

As the sunny weather is appearing please could all children come to school with suncream on. Also we will reapply suncream after lunch if needed.

We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL, so please can we remind our families that the children have no products containing nuts in their lunchbox.
