Hello everyone,
We hope you have had a lovely weekend and it was so lovely to see some sunshine. Here's to much lighter evenings now the clocks have gone forward.
On Monday we had a visitor come to visit. It was Xtreme Falconry man. He came and talked to us about birds of prey and in particular we got to meet some owls, kestrel and an eagle. We all really enjoyed finding out about the birds and learnt lots of new facts. In the afternoon we played a new game which involved some keys. Once person had the keys in the group and another person was the detective and they had to guess who the keys. We also had a great time in soft play. On Tuesday we did some great threading in using the shape of an Easter egg and we were amazing at using the scissors to cut out the egg. We also played the ladybird number game on top marks. Here is a link if you would like to play at home- Ladybird game In the afternoon we went in small groups on a spring scavenger hunt around the school grounds. We all had a clipboard and a spring scavenger hunt sheet. We had to find the objects on the list and tick them off when we found them. We really enjoyed this activity. On Wednesday we had PE with Mr Treble and we used the climbing apparatus. Our confidence is growing with climbing. We were unable to visit the care home this week due to them having Covid. In the afternoon we did a science experiment using an egg. We explored if an egg floated or sank in water and then what happened when you added salt to the water. We did some great predicting and observing. On Thursday morning we had Chrissy Hancock come in to talk about the animals on her farm. We learnt lots of new facts and we explored the journey of our food in a lunchbox. We learnt about how bread was made and how each food is good for us in different ways. We got to try some new vegetables and fruits. In the afternoon we made our own breadsticks to bring home. On Friday a group of children went to the milk vending machine at Martinstown. We collected milk and strawberry milk and enjoyed them for snack. We also learnt how to make butter using the milk and a bottle. We have enjoyed constructing with the toolo and connecting sticks. In the number area we have been exploring shapes and recreating the Easter pictures using the shapes. We have been mark making on the tuff spot using chalks. We have had a go at mark making the sounds we have learnt. We have also enjoyed using the playdough and using a variety of tools, Easter cutters, feathers, buttons and gems. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been using the tweezers to put the chicks in the eggs and then putting the eggs together to put in the egg box. On the small world table we have been playing with the Easter scene of eggs, lambs, bunnies, chicks etc. In the water tray area we have been playing with the frogs in the gelibaff. We have been confidently signing 5 green and speckled frogs and making up our own stories.
In our Read write Inc groups with have been learning the following sounds:
