Hello everyone....
We hope you have all had a lovely weekend. WOW, what a fantastic first week back in the Spring term. The children have settled really well back into pre-school this week and lots of exploring, experimenting, engaging and playing has been achieved.
Last week we spent time settling back into pre-school along with sharing at group time our Christmas adventures. The children have really enjoyed sharing the photos that you have emailed in. The children have also been mark making and sharing their Christmas memories with their key workers. See picture below of the display.
We have really enjoyed listening to the story of The three little pigs and are amazing at joining in with the repeated refrains. We have also watched Mr tumbles sign along version of The three little pigs.
On Wednesday afternoon we collaged using a variety of media 3 little pigs and on Thursday afternoon we made 3 houses out of straw, sticks and brick printing to go with the 3 little pigs.
On Tuesday morning a group had PE with Mr Treble and they used the apparatus. The children did lots of balancing, climbing, jumping and crawling over, under and on the apparatus. They really enjoyed the session.
On Thursday afternoon we played some great games in the hall like the floor is lava, freeze game and the firetruck song. On Friday we did some huffing and puffing painting with pipettes and exploring mixing colours. In the afternoon we went to soft play and had a great time.
Throughout the week we have really enjoyed playing with the wooden bricks and cement (Shaving foam) with spreaders and constructing towers, walls and models. We have also enjoyed acting out the story of the three little pigs at the small world table with straw, sticks and bricks. We have been very busy constructing with lego, magnetic shapes, wooden meccano and octagons. We have been experimenting with guttering and wooden planks to see which object roll down them. We have also been constructing with them in our play. In the water play we have been making towers and castles with different shaped blocks.
Here are some pictures from the week.....
Next week we will continue with the story of The three little pigs and looking at some different variations of the story. We have got lots of exciting activities planned including some science experiments, cooking, Now free play drama, junk modelling houses and lots more. Home learning:-
Can you tell the story of The three little pigs. Can you use different voices for the characters? You could even act it out together?
Can you build a model of a house that you think would stay standing when the big bad wolf huffed and puffed. You could try blowing it with a hand dryer to test it.
Notices:-
We are going to be junk modelling this week the three little pigs houses. If anyone has any boxes and junk modelling materials please do bring them in.
This week we will continue to send home our play library. If you have one at home please bring it back when you are next in. We are also missing one of the booklets which was with the ducks game. Please see link for video for information about this. https://www.facebook.com/POWFS/videos/1039096813302955
