Hello everyone,
We hope you all had a great weekend with your families enjoying the lovely mild dry weather.
Last week we enjoyed talking about the colours and sounds of the fireworks we had seen at the weekend. We also enjoyed listening to the story of Owl Babies and Spinderella at group time. On Monday we created our own firework pictures using black paper and a variety of paint techniques and colours. We used kitchen rolls, forks and shapes to print with. We also made chocolate sparklers with breadsticks, chocolate and sprinkles. It was a great experiment to see how to melt chocolate and what happens when you heat chocolate up. They looked very yummy.
On Tuesday we went to the woods and had an amazing time. We enjoyed the ride on the big coach and then we went for a walk in the woods. We had a snack at the woods. Then we spent time exploring and playing. We liked climbing, balancing and jumping off the logs. We made mud pies with the pots and pans. We also enjoyed using spray bottles to paint a large piece of paper. We had a great time finding the adults who hid.
On Wednesday we played the hedgehog number games in small groups. We did some great counting of the spots on the dice and counting out from a larger group. We were great at taking turns.
On Thursday we talked about Remembrance Day and watched the CBeebies Remembrance Day Video clip. We made red handprints for the school's wreath. We also made a big poppy out on the grass using powder paint and hoops.
On Thursday and Friday we made spider biscuits. We experimented how chocolate melted and then created a spider using strawberry laces and googly eyes. We used the scissors to cut the laces into 6 legs. We also did a science experiment using foil and a whiteboard pen. We drew a spider on the foil and then poured water onto the foil. The spider came off the foil and moved around in the water.
Some photos of the week....
