Christmas

Hello everyone,

Last week we had a great time visiting the garden centre and the cafe. We all enjoyed looking at the Christmas displays and decorations. We talked lots about the shapes, colours, textures and words to describe the decorations. We looked at the nativity scene and talked about the Christmas Story. We all loved trying on lots of Christmas hats and glasses. Pictures will be up on display this week. We then all enjoyed having a drink in the cafe.
We have been very busy in the kitchen cooking a yummy Christmas surprise. Throughout the week we have been sharing a variety of Christmas stories and songs. We are getting really confident with the actions to our carols for the carol service.
Towards the end of the week we have started making our Christmas card using our fingerprints.
On Wednesday a group had PE with Mr Treble and played a variety of games outside.
On Thursday afternoon we had great fun playing Santa hide and seek outside. Also we had great fun dancing to Christmas songs and frozen with tinsel. A group of children helped Caroline decorate the tree in the hall. On Friday afternoon a group of children went to St Georges Church to decorate the Christmas tree for the festival. We made all the decorations linked to the song of the twelve days of Christmas. Please pop by the church and take a look.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed riding on the polar express at the main school and looking t the North Pole display. We liked the science show on Monday morning.

This week we will be continuing with making our yummy Christmas surprise and our Christmas cards. We will also be making some Christmas decorations. On Monday morning we have got a puppet show of the Christmas story. On Wednesday we have got PE with Mr Treble and on Thursday we have got swimming. We will continue to share lots of Christmas stories and learning our Christmas songs.

Letters and Sounds
We will be using the signs from Read write inc which are "my turn, your turn" "talk to your partner". Looking at stories with rhyming endings. We have got a rhyming door in our classroom and we will be adding our rhyming words to the door. This week we will be learning the Read Write Inc picture names: Orange, kangaroo, Girl, caterpillarnet, pirate, tower, insect dinosaur, snake Maisie next to the mountain and apple. We will be using Fred the Frog.

Home Learning

When you are out and about can you recognise different logos e.g. the Tesco sign or car make signs? Can you make a poster of ones you have found?

If you have a favourite Christmas story or song, please bring into pre-school so we can share at group time.

Notices

Please remember to check your Child’s post pocket when you hang up coats. Caroline puts lots of important letters, it gets quite busy with lots going on over the Christmas period.

On Wednesday 11th December  we have our story time at 3.10pm. Please come and join us. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there. If you are able to arrive as close to 3:10pm as possible that would be fantastic, if you do not make it until after 3:15 we would politely request that you wait to collect your child at the normal pick up time as, I am sure you will appreciate, it is quite disturbing for the children and also getting ready for the end of the day is a busy time. Many thanks for your support and cooperation on this matter.

On Friday 13th December is Christmas Jumper day supporting Save the Children. Suggested donation of £1.00.

It was lovely to see some of you at Stay and Play on Friday. This week Stay and Play will be on Wednesday 11th December from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there.

On Friday 13th December from 3.30pm is the Christmas Fair in the main school hall. Please come and join us and raise money for POWSA.  Father Christmas is at the event and a slot can be booked at the main school office.

On Thursday 12th December is our family Christmas breakfast from 8.30-9.15am. Please return slip to help us cater for the event.

If your child would like a Christmas lunch, please see myself or Caroline for a Hot lunch code. These need to ordered by Monday 9th December. Here's to another great week.

If your child is taking part in the Christmas carol service on Tuesday 17th December, please provide them with a costume for the animal they have been given. If you have any questions, please do come and see me.
